That Bianchi is rather lovely... but then, most of them are ^_^

I just discovered what happens if you miss the start of a ToW stage. Courtesy of a brief power cut in the shed and a Windows update, I was 10 minutes late for tonight's Stage 7 Catchup, but when I eventually logged in I still had the option to join. So I did, and was plonked into the middle of a vaguely appropriate group (113/350-odd) at around 90% of my FTP, rode it out and logged a time. Here's hoping they lay on some more suitable re-runs!

I don't know anything about these bikes - but I've seen a guy with an 'all season' one on an audax. It certainly looks impressive. If I was spending that kind of money on a bike I'd probably go for something unusual.

That's another stage done tonight. Stage 6 49:10 - that isn't very fast looking at the league table, but it certainly felt hard going! I put up the seat of my turbo bike to match the settings I got from my bikefit and it does feel better. The guy who did it must know what he is talking about. My turbo bike is more aggressive - about 2 centimetres longer from saddle to centre of the bars and the bars are almost 2 centimetres lower. If the weather ever improves I need to get it outside and see what it feels like on the road, with an extra 30 watts and being 5kg lighter.

Some pros are using the new 1x Sram set ups with smaller chain sets and wide ranging cassettes. None of us are Pros. Know what you want or are likely to ride and choose accordingly. You can always have another wheel set for specific riding like mountains or on the flat.

Yep

I've not been slacking off at work though......I've updated our league table:

Forget the Giro, this is where it's at! A strong couple of catchup rides by Alan sees him regain the lead at the top :bravo:

I've scheduled Stg 7 for 8 and 11 tomorrow morning. I want to do 8 but I may not be up in time. It'll be the last serious ride I'll do before Sunday.

I may do a couple of short light rides, may take a Niece to Kenley Aerodrome for a few circuits. Also may do a light ride on BRVR, @olmosteel's video look very good so far and riden at a rate that I can keep up with so they are very smooth

A couple of strong rides by you in stages 6 and 7 could put you right up there in contention?!? That's if you can find a catch up opportunity that doesnt mean getting up in the middle of the night?

OK guys, really premature here as not ready to buy yet, but looking for bike advice. HID says I can get new bike whenever I want, but I'm going to hold off until probably new year and see if I can get a 2019 model when 2020 models are released - basically, we are looking to move back to London and I don't really want to get the new bike until we have sold here and have a move date.

Anyway ... I digress .....

Being doing bike porn for past few weeks. Some mega bikes out there but I'm finding it hard not to pin my desires on a Bianchi, specifically the OLTRE XR3. Depending how work goes over the next few months, and house sale, budget won't be an issue but I'd like to keep it below £6k if I can just because it feels extreme to go above that

I've looked at so many other brands including Boardman (love the look of the 9.8 Air), Look (some really nice bikes), FDJ Lapiere (probably spelled that wrong!), Trek (Emondo is lovely), Cannondale (who wouldn't like the SystemSix?) HID is really taken with the Bianchi and keeps asking me why I'd wanted the other bikes when the Bianchi are so nice .... so come on, help me out

@kipster - what do you like / not like about Bianchi?

Others - why did you choose your models over other bikes?

I don't want a bike too aggressive, but I do want relatively light, aero (I know, this can make it aggressive too), not too bothered by electronic groupset, as good mechanical will suit me fine. :okay:

This guy has a good reputation for building bikes and he lives not that far from you in Somerton Somerset.
It might be worth having a chat with him and I've left the facebook link below for you to have a look at.
I saw a Basso bike he put together and it was stunning.
