5 miles at 3mph & 978' ascent.

Very hot and sunny.

Centre skyline, you can just make out the radio transmitters adjacent to Whinfell summit (hidden). Was going to do this but the ascent usually comes in at around 2000' depending on my exact route and it was too hot for my liking to do it.

Cows - quite nice.

Humans (some) not so nice.

A long and winding road home.

I recently started using one of these ilo a small rucksack on these short, low-level walks. Very convenient and surprisingly roomy - less faff than a 'sac!

My daughter & I were camping over the weekend so we could do a few decent walks..

Friday evening, a little leg stretcher from Baslow to Chatsworth House & back. Only 3½ miles, but enjoyable..

The strangest gate I've passed throe, I think!
The inner circular part is about ⅔ of the circumference and big enough for wheelchair access but too tricky for the deer to work out!

Lovely end to the day and a precursor of the more 'serious' walks of Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday, out of our tents at about 06:30 ish, leisurely start to the day. Drove back to Baslow from where we were camping at Unthank Lane Farm, and headed up a steep hill onto Baslow Edge. I've done the walk along Baslow, Curbar & Froggatt Edges before but had forgotten how lovely it is up there!

Misty to start but the sun soon burned it off.

8½ miles walked then a drive into Hathersage for lunch before a swim in Hathersage open air pool. Fish & chips and an ice cream to follow as we were quite peckish!! 😂
In the evening we cycled down to the local pub, from the campsite, for an orange juice & lemonade.

Question : does this count as a triathlon? 🤔

Sunday morning was our Dawn Walk plan..

Up @02:40, in the car and away by 03:15!
Our intention was to reach Mam Tor by sunrise @ 04:45 then continue along the Great Ridge to Back Tor and Lose Hill before descending into Hope and then Castleton were we'd parked on Old Mam Tor Road.

We made it to Mam Tor just on time. There were already 40 or 50 people up there! (including one person with a drone.. 😕)

Back Tor. Quite a scramble to get up to the top!

When we'd got back to Castleton, I suggested popping into Cavedale as it's lovely up there!
(I've ridden up there before (it's a Bridleway) in a February when the water flowing down was frozen.. All good fun 😂)

After the 9 mile walk, we headed back to the campsite, loaded the car up and drove to Gt Longstone for a 10 mile ride along the Monsal Trail to unwind the muscles before driving back home.

Altogether a wonderful weekend with my daughter.

That is a very well engineered 'kissing' gate, love it round there.

When I have been at Froggatt, it has been rock.climbing, before children. So have usually stuck to the big paths with big rucksacks

People do climb those faces at the top of the footpath. No one there on Saturday but it was still quite early when we walked by.
