GWS Justiffa and do what the doctors say otherwise it will be longer for recovery, don't even think of the bike for 6 months, I managed to damage my aductor tendon and that was a 12 month recovery, so heal properly and even if you feel well enough to ride........don't, give it time:thumbsup:

OOhhhh so true so true…now tht i'm feeling a lil better i'm already tempted to find some form of short cut. but i do realise the importance of complete healing, especially when i wanna go back to tht level of fitness right before the mishap. so i guess i dont hv any choice but be a good girl and follow the doc's orders lol

Thx for the advice Dangermouse

Yikes - nasty! How did you do it?

Maybe you could go swimming to try and keep fit? (Strap a float to your legs so you could swim with arms only?)

Its me and my love for jumping around like a mad monkey :hyper: it was my usual hour of high impact aerobics at the gym, the group was energetic, the music was loud and catchy and i was feeling hyper, put all that together and i guess my tendon just decided it had had enough of the non stop jumping, dipping & lunging. There was this loud pop in my head and down i went

Swimming might be a good idea but only possible after 2 months… once they take off my stitches next week the doc's gonna put me in a cast for another 6 weeks, probably to make sure i wont go tearing my tendon again so soon after the op lol.

Anyways thx for the suggestion collin

My ride on the weekend - of perfect weather - was banjaxed by me buggering up my back in work on friday, so weekend spent high on ibuprofin and hobling around like a cripple.
and to rub salt into the wound, sunday - even better for cycling weather , went to a charity fund raising breakfast only to have 2 cycling clubs turn up. - I was bright green with envy. (but got to check out the bikes - all to rich for me)

I'm trading this body in , (for scrap only )and getting a newer model. (oddly my wifes all for it)

This is one of my favourite threads but looks like i wont be able to contribute any time soon bcos i busted my achilles tendon completely and am now under long rehab. They're saying minimum recovery in 2 months, full recovery in 4-6 months.

Popped it on monday, went in for surgery on wednesday and now hobbling at home trying my best not to go crazy.

But its hard, its really hard :banghead:
Only just read this - so sorry to hear!

A late post for yesterday (Sunday 16th), but thank you to @jayonabike for organising a 60m circular from Hemel Hempstead, and @ianrauk , @toptom and @topcat1 for a fine day out. I thought a day in the Chilterns was going to be a breeze after @StuAff 's epic IoW night ride, but the legs were seriously complaining yesterday. It's always good to go out with someone else relatively local, as I'm still discovering new routes and locations. Case in point - a brief stop at Dunstable Downs Visitor Centre was less than a mile from where I work one or two days a week, and I never knew it existed, where there was a fine view of hang-gliders, the other type of gliders and a zillion kites aloft on a windy day. We almost got as far north as Winslow, before Jay realised the navigational error, but on a day that reached 23º (acc. to Garmin) it didn't really matter a jot. I can recommend the Mead's Farm shop at Wilstone for lunch and cakes.
I bailed at Tring, as I was due at my Sunday evening voluntary job, but I think the climb to Wigginton to get home was almost the equal of Tom's hill on the route had I carried on.
Only 69 miles for me today - still to achieve a century this year, but the intention is to rectify that in a fortnight, when Jay's 200k beckons.
