Did a little bimble today. I'm still very depressed, now on sleeping tablets as well to get me to sleep at night. My route started in Melksham and went through Atworth, Corsham, Lacock (past the home of the photography pioneer Fox-Talbot) and returning to Melksham. Corsham is a pretty little place, found a good deli with tables outside and had some orange juice, an americano and some ice cream

Although I was on a bimble I still rode quite hard for me so I was disappointed to find myself so close to the bottom of the leaderboards.

2 rides today on the Acton Burnell route to test out the changes to my bikes.
First was the Raleigh, which felt great after using the knockabout bike for the last few rides. I like the new 44 tooth big ring. It's hard to explain but the slight change to the gear ratios just feels right compared to the 42.

I covered 17.1 miles at an average of 15.4mph despite not pushing to do a quick time.^_^

The knockabout bike was next. This has had new wheels (lighter and hopefully better lasting) and brake blocks, plus chain and a 12-32 cassette in place of the previous 13-34 freewheel. The different gearing will take a bit of getting used to on this one, but on the favourable flat sections and downhill I was seeing higher speeds than normal for the same effort  and when I took a detour over Lyth Hill on the way back it seemed to climb pretty much as well as before in low range.

I met a Land Rover down one of the lanes and was going to nip past before suddenly realising he was towing a baling machine as wide as the lane. It's ages since I last left a long skid mark down the road. (2nd emergency stop in a week - hope there won't need to be a third  )

With the detour, the second ride was 18.1 miles at 13.6 mph average, so 35.2 miles total.

Sorry to hear you're down. I hope the bike ride will lift your spirits.

I should ignore the leader board for the time being. Just enjoy riding.

Melancholy is incompatible with bicycling.

I shouldn't worry about leaderboards. Just try and enjoy the cycling, that's the main thing. I find cycling a huge mood lifter and so hopefully it will help with how you are feeling.

Train home from Leeds to Piccadilly, Victoria to Wallgate and in the Brocket by 1830 for a well deserved scoop.
Which was nice

In a moment of madness I decided last night to cycle to work with my husband this morning. His work that is....

I didn't get out on the bike yesterday due to having caught the sun on Wednesday and everytime I went near outside yesterday was left feeling sick and hot, that and the pinhead sized blisters all over my arms where they were exposed.... anyhow, so I thought cycling to work with him first thing in the morning was a sure fire way of avoiding the sunshine today (we haven't got any suncream at home)... so at 7am this morning I set off up the A49 to cycle to Stockton Heath with him.... I got as far as the top of the long climb at Stretton (the other side of the M56) and decided that I didn't want to cycle down the hill and then back up again, my legs were tiring and the pace was a touch too fast after Wednesday (still feeling sick from sun/heat stroke. I was pushing the pace a touch faster than usual - 23.0kph (14.3mph) uphill is fast for me, so said goodbye to him at the traffic lights and turned off the A49 for a meander home through the backlanes.... Had a really nice meander through the country lanes - the Creamfields event is on this weekend, so I now know where we will not be cycling over the weekend. Amazingly I didn't have to stop to cross over the A49 at a crossroads - I had had visions of waiting hours there... Then it was a case of sussing out where I was, Comberbach, and working a route back to the Dr's to collect a repeat prescription for my OH having wasted enough time wandering around aimlessly on my bike (forgot to pick it up last week when I collected mine ) ...

No photos because 1 - the A49 is not that interesting, 2 - my iPhone won't survive rattling around in the saddle bag anymore and 3 - I didn't take the camera either, but I did pass some lovely wildflowers in full bloom at a really obscure country lane junction, just as the sun was starting to catch them (right alongside the M56) and also a beautiful garden with 'country' flowers near to Lewis Carroll's birthplace.

@potsy went for a cruise round the park (Tatton) and had some coffee and flapjack.
Were you hiding in the bushes again?

It was a hurriedly planned ride last night after remembering my colleague was also skiving off work today, 38 miles around Cheadle/Wilmslow/Knutsford stopping in the park for a rest.
Nice to be out on the shiny bike again, it like me enjoys these flat Cheshire rides

Last nights PCC10 started off well, despite starting number 1 (nobody to chase), having no tri bars and a dodgy freehub.
Then I rounded the corner and it started to go wrong, just when I was starting to cruise at 26mph. I came across a couple of horseriders and had to ease and then again as they crossed the road, fortunately they had spotted me early and I dont think I lost too much time.
Got to the next junction (its poor visibility so its marshalled); despite the marshal waving us on the car in front was hesitant too pull out, perhaps the marshal confused them
Shortly down the road another driver then decide to pull out on me, that wouldn't have been to bad but they sat there at 19-20mph for a few moments then pulled off (why!).
The terrain of the course then changed but my freehub didn't like it and started to slip
I then started to sprint to the finishing flag, but unlike Tuesday's TT . I then eased to the marshal, untill he shouted, I thought he was standing on the finishing line but I was wrong again, the parked car marks the finishing line
My official time was 27:46 and my PB on that course is a 27:36 and I'm sure I could of beat it if things had went right.

OT, I think I've got a thing with the number 6. My time last night 27:46 and my pb was a 27:36 (with a speed of 21.6mph iirc), my time on Tuesday Night on a course thats supposed to be a minute slower was 27:56 and my overall time (not in TT) top speed was 47.6mph and my top speed this year (again non TT) was 45.6mph
