All in all a great ride, although I did encounter a tosspot cyclo-evangelist who pointed at me and barked "HELMET!" across the road at me.
Perhaps your flies were undone?

. Wasn't much I could do - slight uphill, a dodgy gear change resulted in chain hopping off and ending up at the side of the smallest ring wedged in tightly against the upright thingy. Took some un-wedging. Anyway, it made the bike come to a very sudden stop and I had no chance of unclipping. Thank god no-one was around. And that I fell to the verge and not onto the road. Then within 1/4 of a mile I had someone overtake me (gave me enough room) but the 4x4 coming the other way and only a cars-length ahead of me was none too chuffed. I did think about turning round at that point, but ended up on a scenic, convoluted tour of all the little villages (ok, I got lost). It was very pleasant, and finished off 3.5 miles from home popping into the local for a nice cold shandy
so all my troubles were forgotten. Apart from the click. I didn't mention the click. I have a bl@@dy click. Which is getting worse and worse and louder and louder. Arghhh
. All future trips on the road bike until the OH (or LBS) sorts it for me.
which was also a good chance to test the pedals I rebuilt for him yesterday (pedals were the same type that snapped off my bike).
His lack of recent riding showed though and he was flagging quite badly in the last couple of miles.

) about 15 miles for me, getting to a pick up point for a group of ladies, then leading said ladies to the new premises of a woman's library in town.
one for @Gee_Dee

That's just typical isn't it? I've ended up buying two of everything for fear of forgetting something important if I swap bags between bikes.I managed 8 miles until a visit from the puncture fairy at which point I realised my tools and puncture repair outfit was still on my MTB.
Glad you weren't too far from home.
