30.20 miles today, round Central Park then a detour to explore, but got a bit lost and ended up in East Harlem, and went over the river and into the Bronx. We turned round and came back, but had to make a detour as the way we came was one way, so we had to find another road. We eventually made it back to Central Park, rode round half it again until we got to Columbus Circus. Stopped for lunch in a Starbucks, where I saw some loon taking photos of herself on her phone. Decided to move on, but could not find the key to the bike lock, found it after ten minutes of frantic searching stuck on the brakes of another bike! Onward to down 9th Avenue, the onto Broadway for a reccy ride, to work out where the start of tomorrows ride is. Then onto Battery park, for an ice cream then back along the Greenway cycle path alongside the Hudson river back to the hotel.
It is bloody bedlam riding round the Park, there are thousand of folk out on bikes of all types, kids bike, BSO, recumbents, hire bikes, old bikes, latest bling bikes, trikes, unicycles, Bromptons, plus all the joggers, peds, dog walkers the lot! And riding on the roads...well, it gets your blood pumping for sure.
