Went for an evening ride yesterday with the enemy, just 20 miles,to bed in new brake shoes. It was a lovley bright sunny evening, with a bit of a headwind for the fist ten/eleven miles. Like everyone else has said it was flipping cold, bases layered up with jacket and longs on as well! Anyway a lovley ride on a another new route, round the back of Tuscmore, into Croughton, Hinton in the Hedges, Brackey, Westbury, then into Cottisford and home, it was a bit hilly, with some nice downhill sections, really enjoyed the ride. Especially as I had adjusted my saddle a bit and now don't seem to be sliding off it so much.

Decided as its my day off and for once the sun is shinning i would do a 35 mile loop. Set the Garmin 205 to show a trail, 2 bottles of drink, a gel (just in case) a snack fibre bar and a packet of prawn coctail crisps and i was off.

Things did not go to plan as 1/2 way through i changed the route idea!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Up from Chard towards the turnpike holiday place on the A30 and turned right to Whitestaunton and round to Northay and up to suicide cross roads.

View from Suicide X roads. Thr road in the middle of the pic is the one i will be going along.

Dropping down the hill towards Horton i cross the A358 and headed for Ilton, turning left and out to Fivehead to Drayton and across the levels to Muchelney.

:wahhey:

And an extra  for photographing some of my favourite views. Cycled to and through that neck of the woods so often.

Got home early from London ... Just one thing on my mind ... RIDE!
A steady 20 miles at an average of 15mph ..... Rolled down the hills and eased up the other side. Got home before my wife/kids and sat on the front step of the house soaking in the heat from the sun ...... Life can be great sometimes

Random mid week day off today (messed up planning on my account) so took a ride out to Theale and then along the ridge through Bradfield and Bucklebury (shame Pippa wasn't home). Just 25 miles at a slow 14.6 miles (ride out was into wind then ride along the ridge was new roads to me). Gave the bike a real good clean and chain Mickle, then cutting the grass "The horror... the horror..."

Its been sunny the last few days but its been blowing a hoolie  The wind settled down today  Unfortunately I had booked the car in for an MOT  . The car passed but it meant no commute for me. When I eventually got back to the flat it was still war and sunny so I went out then for a wee relaxed ride. Well was relaxed for about 35mile then I realised I was running out of light and didnt want to rely on my back up front light or single rear (smart superflash). I neednt have bothered as one in three cars I saw after that never had their lights on (including the one on the wrong side of the road; perhaps Peterborough moved to France when I was away for a few hours  ). I was also reminded how much I love twilight riding when two deer wandered across my path
