Today I went to the opening of the Bath Two Tunnels cycle route and rode the new route. It's a great level track through two old railway tunnels, giving a way to avoid some really unpleasant roads and massive hills. The opening was a great event with load of people turning up, and the ride through the tunnels very exciting. Get yourselves to Bath and give it a try!

What a lovely day today. Blue skies and sunshine. It was a little chilly early on but it warmed up nicely and any wind that was about was very light. Could this be spring (at least for a day)?
I took advantage and joined the local CTC group. They lead me out into the hills where snow still lingers and there was some ice where the water is still running off the fields. The views were super tho'. We ended up in a nice cafe at Cleobury Mortimer. I rode back with my 73 yr old. It was very hilly and he was struggling on the ups. No worries. After 25 or so miles he decided to head for some more Tea. I headed for home instead. My longest ride of 2013 - 71 miles and 4550 feet of up.

:bravo:

Rode my first Evening 10 last Tuesday, freezing cold & strong E wind on a sporting course
Hopefully next weeks weather will improve .......... rain ???

BTW ....... do we have a TT thread anywhere ?

I rode a ten last Monday in a brutal wind. The bike was all over the place, no idea how people got away with riding deep section rims, I would have been on my arse.

Today's weather was good, some slight wind but nothing too bad. Even rode in shorts! Would have gone short sleeved too, but I didn't have a SS jersey with me.

Mr Blobby [moi] not quite Mr Blobby anymore, sounds like just about everyone got out and rode what felt like the first day of Spring, so when the opportunity to ride with three lovely members of the opposite sex presented itself what is a man to do? Great ride even if it felt a bit bizarre at one point to be bunny hopping snow drifts in warm sun. 57 miles with a visit to Dove Cottage for cake [some on the forum will know this stop from earlier rides] which is run by volunteers for the hospice a bit further along the road. A bit of grunting needed to get up a 13% hill, it felt steeper than that but one of the girls told me her Garmin said that, and Garmin is never wrong - is it?
Anyway they all want to ride again so I'm a happy bunny, if still a bit blobby . A couple of pics, Belvoir Castle in the background

Rode the Eureka Excursion 200km audax yesterday. Actually 230/144miles! A chilly start but sunny all day, and only a gentle chilly breeze for most of the day. Legs are feeling it today!
Last Tuesday I had a go at Rhyl CC's hill climb at Rhuallt. Came last out of 26 but compared to the racing snakes on blingy bikes I'm not too disappointed. Need more hill work for the next one!

A somewhat-poor 11 miles for me this morning.
First time I've ridden the fixed this year, and my knees were grumbling a little on the upwards bits.
And the downwards bits. The flat bits were slightly iffy too...

As long as I breathe, I attack.
1st nice day of the year and i have a stinking cold and the rear mech of my boardman is broke so here i am coughing and sniffling rather than out riding :cursing:.My hamfistness broke the barrel adjuster and it only costs £15 more to buy a whole new mech from ribble, go figure.

Decided to fit in a mad dash around Delamere Forest this morning. Only the 21km on the mtb, but off practicing new skills (@Cubist I managed those step off the Whitegate Way without issue - well chuffed!). Somehow came back with a QOM around Delamere Forest taking over a minute off another woman's time and placing me in the top 1/3rd taking both sexes into account (well chuffed at that because we weren't really trying hard and had to stop/slow repeatedly for dogs, children & other such hazards including cyclists.... (Apologies to the 3 cyclists we met on the junction with me smack bang in the middle not making my mind up which side I was going to pass on - low blood pressure had me a touch fuzzy this morning!) The flooding (aka water splash) on the white route is still there as well and included a dog today for added fun! Also got a 2nd place on the only other segment - so good day given I didn't know they were there! We just ride and find out afterwards... Blakemere Moss was unbelievably noisy with the number of birds on it today. Wished I had taken the camera because there was some really nice light on some of the ponds this morning... http://app.strava.com/activities/47638260

Edit: My OH has just complained that I did the "normal". Took the polos with us and didn't a) tell him or b) offer any to him, but carried the entire packet the entire route and brought them home again - Ooops

Trip out to York this morning, I have been threatening to do it for weeks now 59 mile @ 17.5 average biggest single ride since returning to the fold in February, knee still not right (a nights rest was not going to fix it) plenty of cyclists of all kind out and about in groups and on their, own passed a fair few which still pleases me (big kid) and got lost coming out of York which put a few extra miles on (1 more would have been nice to make it 60) Still have Bianchi shape thoughts going through my head which isn't fair to my Saracen as it is running beautifully.

Unusual road sign spotted in Curlieu Lane Norton Lindsey this morning. Out this morning for the second time this weekend, 62 miles to the Earlswood Craft Centre and back, beautiful sunny morning, still a little cold first thing though, still wrapped up a bit but only using light gloves and the woolly hat went into the back pocket after an hour, wind still a bit strong but more westerly and warmer, lovely ride in Warwickshire's leafy lanes, seen plenty of people out, the legs had had enough by the time I'd got 50 miles up and needed nursing home, but still an enjoyable morning that made up a bit for those Sunday's the weather kept me in.
