Sat'day: easy solo ride around Lancaster & Morecambe coast. Very pretty although had to race the tide near Sunderland Point...

Sunday: Club ride from Preston to Bentham over Cross of Greet. I think we saw tf and dp descending from the Cross - we deffo saw some Clitheroe riders (and others) descending when we were grovelling up the climb - we were in gaudy Red Rose Olympic tops and heading north, the others were heading south. tbh this is why i joined a club: took one group text to organise rather than 50 posts on a forum... and no need for a gpx file of the route and a debate on the date... anyway we had a caff stop at Wray - not cheap but excellent coffe - then back via Scorton and Inglewhite. I had about 80 miles on the clock at the end. Apart from the climb, the best bit was doing silly racing on the way back: attacking, counter-attacking, blowing up and racing for town signs. Great fun. Lovely sunny day too!
Yes I think you probably did, I do have a recollection of seeing a bunch of cyclists heading the other way but I was probably close to my limit at that point, dr_pink was all in black and probably at the front of a group of about 7.

Day off work today, got a 45 mile ride in this morning. Did my community service as I saw a blind woman walking down the middle of a one way pathless street, guided her and the dog to the edge, was amazed the dog and tried to move her, luckily there were no cars about.

My first 50km spin on the Taliban. 3,000ft ascent. Macc=> Cat and Fiddle => Congleton => Marton => pub => Macc. Not especially fast but great fun. The new cycling clothes have proved to be perfect for cycling (no surprise there then). Everything really comfortable. New top speed of 35mph + fastest ascent to the Cat so far. Leg warners tended to fall down - is that normal? My previous experience of leg warmers is limited to the Eric Prydz "call on me" video...

"Proper" roadies now say "hi" - the artifice of the new gear clearly helps. Worked on cadence and managed to keep up a good cadence on some ascents which helped a lot.

Cheers, Richard

congrats. that's some climbing in that route (grew up around Leek area).
I have found that my leg warmers stay up happily with my north wave bib tights even on a 2 hr commute but won't last 1mile if I wear my assos bib tights - guess it is the fabric! I think i have found me top speed at 37mph! and to be honest, its as fast as I currently want to go!

It felt colder than the thermometer was showing at 6C, back on the fixed and into the hills to see how the old legs were feeling after yesterdays pennine day out. Not bad as it turned out, pity one of my loops had a "road closed" sign on it which of course as a cyclist you ignore thinking at worst you can always walk around the obstruction. The reason I do this loop in always the same direction on fixed is because of a "little" dip that is steeper going down than going up, so I had my wheeee! moment and a mile further on the road is completely blocked by mechanical diggers and workmen with no way around. It was at that moment that I realised I had to turn around and tackle the now "not so little" dip :surrender:
An odd thing is that the last 2 rides I have been on there has been snow, today above Oakham about 200 m above sea level.

Did a small 38 mile ride from Dorking to Winkworth Aboretum (where I had a modest slice of cake) then back via Cranleigh and Leith Hill.
Such a pretty part of the world, so glad I moved down here.
I'll second that. Used to live on the Surrey/Kent border, now on the Surrey/Hants border, I don't get such a buzz now.

Managed to get in 24.5 miles in today after work, felt a bit miffed yesterday as i couldn't get out and the sun was splitting the sky, but today was just as nice up here in the central belt of Scotland.
