<and after all that time, I just realised that @HLaB is -fairly- local! I didn't miss a huge career in forensics methinks.. :headshake:>
We met him on one of my forum rides, and you can just about tell he is not from Peterborough

I didn't get a ride at the weekend so took the opportunity to get out this afternoon. To start with the plan was to do my usual route out to Acton Burnell but after crossing Lyth Hill I discovered the snow line was at about 500 feet and decided to head into the hills and enjoy the snow a bit.

Once I reached Acton Burnell I headed up towards Causewaywood, Chatwall and up to Yell Bank (1053 feet above sea level) before dropping down towards Leebotwood and home via Longnor and Condover.

The roads are still pretty mucky and for some reason this gritty stuff is particularly sticky this winter which means I have pretty much worn out a set of new brake blocks in only 4 rides and the new rear wheel I bought last summer is almost down to the wear marker. I had to stop part way round to clean off the rims because they were so bad.

It was 24.3 miles today at an average of 11 mph and bloomin' cold the whole way round.

En route to Causewaywood. I've reached the snow line.

At Yell Bank, looking towards The Lawley. That sky looks pretty threatening!

three wheels on my wagon
Done my standard 13 miler on the 'flyline' old railway track with the dog on the butchers bike ( me on the bike the dog on the track). Worked up a sweat as I have got to get rid of this bl**dy flu bug! Gonna have to fix a comp to the thing to find out my times etc, but I don't want to add all that extra weight:tongue:. Saw a couple of roadies a few MTB's and quite a few dogs and a ton of school kids. I have to say that I do get acknowledged by all the 'serious' cyclists despite being on a 'comedy bike' with a jack russell in the basket, so no snobbery in this part of Yorkshire. I am so glad I finally got back on two wheels.

No ride for me today to much snow.

I noticed yesterday when I updated my mileage data that since the 19th March last year I have ridden 3999.28 miles.

20 miler today, elbow so sore I just couldn't take anymore, turned around and rode home. I under dressed today as well, I had to wrap a cloth I carry, around my old man to stop it falling off...

Thirty two miles on a pie quest taking in Stamford Bridge, Full Sutton, Pocklington and York. Cycled past a house in Full Sutton that was taped off by the police. Turns out to be a murder scene. Pie purchased from Taylor's in Stamford Bridge. Nice crust, minimal void, lightly spiced pork with a tad too much salt. Good nevertheless.

£0.80 7/10

Bought a second pie at Sisson' s the butcher in Pocklington. Didn't do enough miles to warrant its consumption. Saved it for tomorrow. Weather cold and moderate headwind on the outward leg.

21.5 miles, in the grey dull bloody freezing cold to get a hair cut. I was going to drive, but no, I thought I'd go on the bike and MTFU. I didn't enjoy it at the time, it was horrid out there today and I am sick of the sight of feckin' snow! Had a cup of hot chocolate at Subway after my haircut which helped warm me up. I've been back 30 minutes and the tops of my legs are still cold, I'm glad I went though I feel much better for it, I've now clocked up 4020.08 miles since the 19th March last year, the most mileage on a bike I've done in 40 years.

As per Carl said, if ever there was a nothing day that was it, no sun, no wind, no rain just grey and more grey, temp +1C. Managed 43 miles which is a lot better than of late. To make it a bit more interesting I thought I would try and get a photo or two of of any raptors that were about. Have you ever tried to get your phone out of a back pocket, unlock it, switch it to camera, adjust what little zoom there is while at the same time pointing it at the spot where you think your subject is because you can't see the screen for the glare? That's my excuse, all these were taken very close to each other.
