Headed for Yorkshire today. The highlight of the ride was the 18 miles run up the A58 from Littleborough, then across the moores along side the M62 (horrible headwind aside) and down to Oldham. Two 800ft+ continuous climbs within about 12 miles of each other, making the total for the ride about 5,000ft.

Managed to overtake 7 or 8 other people on the climb up the A58 as well

Took the MTB out - more comfortable on the rubbish roads with my knackered elbow...forgotten how much work an MTB is on the roads compared to a roadbike, bumps aside

Probably about 12 miles overall with coffee, shops and pottering interspersed - tired now and cannot get my arm close to straight!

23 miles to my Mum and Dads and back, with my Brother, in glorious warm :sun:!! Summer has finally arrived..............:wahhey:in it's normal month of September!! I really think the seasons have moved by about 3 months over the past 5 or 6 years. Averaged 11 mph, which i'm quite happy with as it included a climb over Lyth Hill nr Shrewsbury.

I hate hills but cant avoid them

My way of getting up hills is to think that there is always a nice fast downhill descent on the other side, once you have got up the wretched hill!!

Very jealous of you living in Cumbria!! My favourite part of the UK and you definately can't avoid hills up there!

A 17.6 mile loop to the south of Shrewsbury taking in Lyth Hill, Condover, Pitchford & Acton Burnell. It was bloomin' windy by the time I went out and for the first half of the ride I couldn't go much faster than 8 or 9 mph:blink:.

It was a bit quicker on the way back though:thumbsup: and I averaged just under 12mph overall. Not special but I just couldn't do any more today.
