Last ride of the Scotland holiday, planned a nice little 100k for myself, got the added bonus of wifey coming along at the last minute.
Went along the ncn7 from Maybole to Glentrool, then back to Maybole via Girvan, pretty hilly at first but the views and the descent into Glentrool more than made up for that early effort!

Up in the hills in the first half of the ride, lush.

Good spot by 'er indoors, visitors centre at Glentrool for a brew and cake.

The waterfallish river bit by the bridge at Glentrool.

Nice little rest in the sunshine at Girvan.

Back to the camp for a beer or ten and watching the sun set over Arran.

Blimmin great ride, I'd properly recommend the ncn7 if anyone is up that way, might post the gpx later on me blog for them that want it.

Looks great.

Hope you don't mind me asking, but what on earth do you have on your bars ? Very interesting ? I'm a novice in this area, but looks like that would give a number of alternative ridings positions, great for longer rides ?

Some commuting miles today - the first for a few years now. Doing some temporary work to help out a former colleague and it's a nice cycling distance at 10.1 miles there.^_^

I left plenty of time so I could go at an easy pace and wouldn't arrive all sweaty..... and ended up standing round for 15 minutes as no one else had arrived. May have misjudged that one slightly. One slight niggle is that I ride straight past the back door of the unit but because there is no access through the security fence on this side it's another half mile to get there.

A day of unpacking, picking and repacking parts followed, while keeping an eye on the weather as it poured down most of the day. I judged it right though as it was dry when I set out, although there were some threatening clouds around.

The trip back wasn't quite as quick as the gradients aren't as favourable in this direction and there was more traffic about, leading to plenty of waiting for a gap. At Atcham I had the pleasure of sailing past a quarter mile of standing traffic - sometimes it's nice to be on a bike.;) I think I'll try the route back through Shrewsbury tomorrow, which is longer but flatter and with less motor traffic.

20.2 miles round trip at 13.2 average for the two trips.

A nice view to have on the commute.

A couple of miles from home and wondering if I can get back before that rain arrives.

Well the peeps at the club last Sunday were talking about going up Upton St Leonard's hill next week so I thought I would have a look to see how much it would kill me! Yes I had to get off a few times as I thought my heart was going to do a Alien and jump out of my chest! Lol we I've survived and went into Stroud and Stonehouse, Eastington then across the A38 into Frampton, Saul, Empney then Longney and Stonebench and finally back into Quedgeley

Profile Design Airstryke tri bars, fecking lovely!
I put them on for, as you said in your post, for the increased number of riding positions. I get the fidgets after about fifty miles and they provide a nice little alternative.
Since then I've noticed their value when trucking into headwinds on long rides. So much so that I've put them on both bikes.

They look really interesting, thanks. The Wiggle page doesn't give much in the way of specs - are they universal or need to buy the right size for your bars ?

Could you put up a few pics, particularly of how they attach to the bars ?

Do you think that if you have them, you come to rely on them, like a crutch ? Instead of building up back and core strength I mean ?

Ate too much cake today. Hadn't intended to ride out tonight, but thought I'd better change my mind. Just under 20 miles in the end, out to the canal basin at Saul Junction and back via Whitminster and Epney.

Hey, @Saluki, you were right! They really have painted cycle lane markings on the main carriageway of the A38 at the turn-off for Epney! Saluki knows more that Reuters. Didn't have my camera, but might get a picture tomorrow before someone corrects it.
There was a half marathon or something going on along the lanes near Longney tonight, and the road was full of road runners. images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRlH2GlHRPT9AB2PIQTVlV1P77zuhBSXmvUQQkeEv-Bw09gaqz5iest-jU.png (Like I said, no camera with me tonight, so that will have to do).

p.s. Nice to see @Pikey posting again. Great Scottish pictures - can't wait to get up there again myself in a few weeks time. You still thinking of arranging that forum ride in Wiltshire any time this year?

Decided at last to put my old faithful ridgeback 6 speed out to pasture and use my giant road bike for commute and general biking now. Don't have the room for 2 bikes at the flat.
So my ride to work was a whole 4 miles along the prom from Alum Chine to Boscombe. With a hill at the end. Then home at the end of the day through town, as bikes aren't allowed on the prom until after 6pm. More hilliness. But considering at the beginning of the year I would have had to get off and push up some of them I was most pleased that I don't have to now.
I was going to Map my ride to see how long it took, but as ever I started the app but then forgot to turn it off. So it took me 4 hours to do the ride to work according to the app.

Cheers @Donger , it was one of the best rides we did up there. Only surpassed by cycling along the coast road from Larne in Northern Ireland earlier in the holiday.

What bit are you going to?

Re. The forum ride, once I've unpacked here I'll get thinking about a route and get posting. U up for it?

We will be staying at Inverinate (up near Kyle of Lochalsh and the Skye Road Bridge) for a week, but approaching it via a few days on the Outer Hebrides. The missus doesn't cycle, but I'm sure to get the odd hour or two every couple of days to get out and about on my old heavy horse of a tourer. While we are in inverinate, I'm going to have a go at the Pass of the Cattle (Bealach Na ba) on the Applecross Peninsula...... might as well go for the biggest I can find.

As to the forum, sounds good. Wouldn't want to hold anyone back, so hope I'm fast enough for you. So long as I'm not on my hols at the time I'd love to come along and do it.

Yesterdays ride, as usual..
I had plans to meet up with a friend in Moulton after his shift finished so we could do a 25/30 mile loupe around the bottom of Northampton. The weather was quite wet during most of the day, but promised to cheer up a bit in the early evening. We met up at 5.30 and kept to the back roads via Overstone, Sywell and Earls Barton to get to Cogenhoe as it was rush hour.
The rain started at this point, but only looked like a passing shower so we weren't to worried about it. I did want some more rain actually, to see if my new Castelli jacket kept the water out!

The route took us via Castle Ashby. The Estate Office burnt down a couple of weeks ago. Such a shame, but luckily the main house was unaffected! That could have been a disaster as these old houses tend to be destroyed once fire takes hold..

We headed back via Wilby and Mears Ashby when, happily, it started piddling down. YES! My new jacket kept the rain out :becool:

Just as we were about to go our separate ways in Overstone, the p*ncture fairy struck poked her finger into Alan's rear tyre. As we were changing the tube, several riders asked if we were OK as they cycled past. We had the stuff we needed, but it's always nice to have an offer of help, just in case.. 15 mins later, we were on our way.

35 miles at a fairly sedate 14.4 MPH as my mate isn't a very fast rider. Great ride though.
