That ride is only worth 1 blob of ice cream......
Two scoops was the smallest cone they sold - sorry.

As usual no photos, but Tim (my 10yo) and I did my club's Oil Can Cafe run; 38.5 miles of hills: http://www.strava.com/activities/171041709

Cakes and old cars - the cafe is in the middle of a vintage car garage, with a 50's dress shop and automotive memorabilia:

Had a very early start today. I'm very lucky only living a few yards from woodland, so I set of on the new Cannondale 29er to give it a proper christening!

Straight into Silverdale Woods, through to Haying Wood then into Keele woods. I had to hit the tarmac then for a fair few miles, heading towards Hanchurch Woods. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, and I saw an amazing sunrise through the mist.

I had a couple of hours in Hanchurch, it's still very , very muddy in places and overgrown with nettles and brambles. My arms and legs will be stinging for days.

I left Hanchurch then had a blast along the roads to Acton. There's a pig of a climb, not long but over 25% in parts. I've never seen anyone riding up it! From here I headed back the way I came, through the woods, sweating, aching but glad I made the effort to get out of bed early.

:hungry:

I'm back from a gentle 48 mile ride with 12 ladies from my group (and one husband ). Gorgeous weather, so much so that there was a rebellion on the homeward leg and we had a second stop for ice cream. :mrpig:

Hadn't been out for ages as mrs ihh had an operation middle of June. Shes well on the recovery trail now so Monday past i set off out on the mtb. Forced myself to do ten miles and it was great to be out again but my word isn't it hot. Ride safe Mike.

It's a bit more complicated than that...
Perfect riding weather - hot and sunny, with a bit of a breeze. In the absence of Mrs W I did our Buckinghamshire big houses loop on my solo bike. 62 miles in about 4.5 hours riding time, taking the hilly route back through Chesham (the final hill defeated me - I'm used to something more spinny than a 30x25 bottom gear). I spent part of the route swapping back and forth with someone on a TT bike (I suspect he went rather further than me) who got to the shop at Wing at the same time as me.

I didn't go out until about 5:40 as it was a rather warm day.
I decided to not pick a route but to just make something up as I went along using the ever faithful "oooh, that looks pretty down there" method of route finding.
I headed off towards Wattlefield and then turned for Spooner Row and went straight on at the Boars and headed for Wymondham College school. From there I headed back towards Wymondham on the B1172, the old London Road but soon turned left towards Morley St Botolph & Wicklewood.
There was a horrible hill there, it went upwards! If it had been going downwards it wouldn't have been horrible at all. I had a van behind me but as there were no passing places, I kept on riding. I was not about to climb up a small bank covered in stinging nettles for anyone. He parped his horn a couple of times but as I had nowhere to go there was not much that I could do. I went into a passing place as soon as one appeared and he roared past me.
I then headed down Green Lane to Kimberley, and out on to the B1108 Watton Road and headed right along there and then got off that road as soon as I could. I skirted Coston and then headed to Barnham Broom and then back over the B1108 and to Carleton Forehoe. I've not been down there for ages, probably a year. I turned left on the Barnham Broom Road and headed back to Wymondham but then hooked left onto Youngmans Lane and onto Wramplingham Road and finally onto the Melton Road where I went left towards Melton but turned off for Hethersett and from there headed towards home.
At the Ayton Road roundabout I decided that I needed to do another 4 miles so headed off towards Hethel but turned right long before the Lotus factory and went over the railway bridge and whipped through Silfield before heading home.
Tonight's ride was 30.56 miles in 2:06:00 averaging 14.5 mph. I hit the 15 mile mark in an hour so must have had a much slower second half. It was warm out. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I've hit my target for the week. 70 miles was my target and I have done 105% of it so anything tomorrow is a bonus. My legs are really tired now and the other half has gone out for wine, ice-cream and a pint of milk.
