The highlight of the rides has to be the Crask Inn referred to several ride reports back. Anyone cycling through the area between Bettyhill and Inverness should contrive to make the place a mandatory overnight stop. Excellent beer, food and hosts whose gentle conviviality and mildly unorthodox way of life enriches the life of all who pass through their doors.

+1 to all of that:thumbsup:

We have been out for an afternoon ride. We gave both the bikes a bit of a gear fettle today. I gave Exey a good old clean with some wet wipes. He seemed very happy and shone very nicely afterwards. I cleaned the Boardman too, it was pretty grubby!

I rode a nice route http://connect.garmin.com/activity/525237009 here.
It was nearly the same as Weds night but I saw the turning that I meant to take, so that was OK then. I did do Hubster out of a cup of coffee and a bun at Waitrose but I didn't fancy the slog back up the hill again. When I pointed this out, he saw the light and had toast when we got back.

Beautiful weather. I still have an annoying click on my bike. It's not the gears, the seat, the stem or anything. It must be the right pedal. I'll swap them out tomorrow and see if that helps. I've got some Look pedals so might give them a go instead. Tomorrow will be a post full of clipless moments as I do prefer my SPDs.

Glorious ride in Richmond Park this morning.

Mrs PK is in training for the Pru100 and we have done a number of longer rides recently - her best was 82 miles & 5000 feet, and last week we did the Pru100 route from Kingston to Wimbledon ie all the hills and 60 plus miles. Today was steady riding round the Park. I did 4 continuous and Mrs PK did 3, then after coffee at Roehampton Gate Cafe she suggested another loop before home. 42 miles total

Weather was glorious, many hundreds of cyclists out, car traffic minimal and considerate.

A solo ride today as all t'others were at work..
As usual, no great plan for the afternoon, just a need to get some miles done in lovely weather.
Several of the roads were on the Women's Tour albeit at a much more sedate pace! Dodington descent, Bell End in Wollaston,

then through Bozeat passing one of the old shoe factories now converted to homes, as most are now.

Riding across some field roads towards Easton Maudit, I came across this tree... Not sure if the budget ran out, or the ladder wasn't long enough, or the fella had had a few beers before trimming it!

On to Salcey Forest for a chocolate and strawberry cone with a flake poked in it..
I sent a mate a message to see if he'd finished work and wanted to meet up for a few miles, but he was still busy.
Never mind, next time..

37 miles.(that brought me up to 1000km for the month) Lovely sunshine, no wind and only one idiot who found it necessary to overtake me and nearly take my front wheel off as he braked hard and turned left into a side road... Twat!

53 miles the journey, Earlswood the destination, back of f holiday yesterday, a week by the sea, a week of no cycling, though we walked a lot. Got up this morning to bright sunshine, blue sky's and little wind, I couldn't resist, got my bike gear on, applied the factor thirty, got the bike out, put some air in the tyres and I was out for a little leg stretcher, a beautiful morning for cycling and I was surprised at how well I was going, sailing up the hills and spinning up nicely on the flat, lots of people out, on bikes and horses, lots of people abut who looked new to cycling, and most people were in a good mood, the only thing was a close pass by another cyclist, the car drivers were being kind to me, I came out of the cafe and it had started to cloud over but it was still warm and didn't spoil the ride home, I started to fade as I approached home but it was a thoroughly enjoyable ride and an excellent morning out on the bike.

A regular route in lovely sunshine. Headed to Uffington, Upton Magna, Atcham, Condover, Ryton, Longnor, Frodesley, Acton Burnell, Pitchford and then back through Attingham Park and home.

Loads of cyclists out, ranging from serious roadies through to families with youngsters.

Was enjoying the ride until I got a text about halfway round to say that my mum was in hospital yet again. She's only been home 4 days since the last stay in there. I am sure rollercoasters are supposed to have ups? Rest of the ride was a bit of a blur really.

This brought a smile to my face though, in Acton Burnell, when I had stopped for a drink and looked up to see this in someone's garden....Brian Blessed dressed as a pirate !

An early start today as I woke up at 6am, out for a quick 10miles at 6:55 then back to pick daughter up from work. After this managed to convince my wife it was a good idea to head out, so we set off with a picnic and a flask. Managed 24.8 slow and steady miles, impressive as she doesn't cycle often so it's like starting again every time she gets on her bike

The view for our picnic at Druridge Bay Country Park (you may see a theme developing if you've read my other ride posts ), talk about an early lunch, it was only about 10:30 by this point ^_^

That took me to 120 miles for the week :bicycle:

Barely ridden for the last 18 months and in the last 2 years probably done about 2 rides longer than a short commute to work. Having moved house a few months ago and had my job made permanent I'm trying to get back into it and waiting to pick up a road bike on works scheme. In the mean time I thought I'd take my Sirrus hybrid out this weekend to see how I'd get on!

Pretty pleased to manage 15 miles round the local lanes with a few miles along the canal at the end. http://www.strava.com/activities/156625672
I do love the country side round here! Also realised that the canal path is smoother than a lot of the roads.....

A marked absence of Brian Blessed tributes around Gloucestershire today, but like everywhere else, loads of cyclists out and about soaking up the rays. The vast majority of them were very friendly, with the exception of a Gloucester City Cycle Clubber who was clearly far too busy being fab and impressive to bother replying to the likes of me when I said hello. Did my standard 25 miler to Arlingham and back, with a little detour into Frampton for a couple of photos.
June 2014 part 2 104.jpg The waterfront at Epney ..... The Anchor Inn (my local, many years ago) in the background.

June 2014 part 2 105.jpg View up the Severn of Longney Sands, taken from Epney.

June 2014 part 2 111.jpg The bend in Saul where I once came round the corner (in the opposite direction) rather too fast and nearly parked my face in the rear end of a horse.

June 2014 part 2 106.jpg The canal bridge closing at Frampton, by the Cadbury's milk depot. If you're munching on a bar of Dairy Milk chocolate right now, chances are your "glass and a half" came from here.

June 2014 part 2 107.jpg Cricket match on the village green at Frampton on Severn. The lad batting in this shot fizzed a 4 across the road, past my ankle, and across another road behind me , just moments after this picture. This is not a wise place to bring your brand new Porsche.

June 2014 part 2 109.jpg After my close shave, I moved on a few yards out of the line of fire, and he cut another 4 past my other ankle! Note the Bell Inn in the background ..... recommended as a good spot to stop for an impromptu lunch or a nice evening meal. (Don't be put off by the sign above the door of one room stating "Locals Bar" !!!!).

June 2014 part 2 110.jpg The red sandstone cliffs of Newnham on Severn, seen from the Old Passage at Arlingham - a dead end road that I like to take just to sit on a bench here, looking at the river, and which turns my standard 20 miler into a 25 miler.

On the way back I stopped in Epney to offer help to a nice couple from Stroud who were having a mechanical while on their way to Gloucester Docks. They didn't need my help, but were pleased that I offered, especially as some nobber in a blue top that had just sped past me wordlessly had done the same to them. Later on they caught me up and we had a pleasant chat while riding back through Longney and Elmore until we went our separate ways.
Another lovely trip out. Two more rides will probably bring up my 1,000 miles for the year.

Cheers! Donger.

A quick 12 miles this morning.
I woke up and didn't know what the weather was doing as we have black out blinds and curtains.
So I lay there and read the news on the iPad and eventually got up....the sky was blue and the sun was out!

I didn't even stop for breakfast! I grabbed a cereal bar and water and got out for a loop of the cycle paths to Helix Park.
As I got into the park I saw the roadies taking down all the staging for the Rod Stewart concert at the football stadium last night.
I stopped for my cereal bar at the Kelpies then did a few loops around the Lagoon in Helix Park, before heading home.

Pretty uneventful, except that I bolloxed up a gear change, resulting in me standing on the pedals going no where, as I was in the wrong gear!
I almost fell off but saved myself from more bruises
And right there is the reason I won't even use toe clips, never mind SPD's!

I got home, had breakfast and a bath then set about the housework.
I'm going to pass by the LBS in the week as my front disc brake is juddering when braking lightly.

Edited to add that I got up the cemetery hill in one go again, and mostly in a higher gear today!
Go me!
