A sunny ride out to Surrey for me. Tea & cake at the top of Box hill before returning home.
Just 41 miles as I've got pilates tonight and I don't think the instructor will be lenient!

What is that cake? It looks gorgeous!!!

Have you tried shims to bring the levers closer to the bars?
I need to investigate shims too - I can't reach the brake levers properly on the Giant, which made life rather interesting on the Trough ride
Never been downhill so slowly in my life

Headed westwards today..a short jump on to 75 then a quick exit left heading towards Loch Thom through the back roads then Garshangan forest track with a slight tailwind, cycled around Loch Thom and took the rough track up to Scroggy Bank...12 mile from home...sadly the 360 views were affected by the hazy sunshine (haven't used that one much lately)sat for almost an hour in the sunshine whilst playing radio...I reversed the outgoing route into what was now a strong headwind.
A dusty ride in places but enjoyable with no speedy drops due to the wind..

Couple of rides.

Yesterday I went out with the Penzance Wheelers, headed up to a local TT to cheers on some of the guys, I do enjoy a good climb, got 9th and 10th overall on a couple of hills which I was happy with as I didn't feel that strong yesterday

The TT photographer got one of me.

I headed back to Kent after that ride (in the car), in a couple of weeks I'm doing a 100 mile ride for Pilgrims Hospice, the organisers set up a 25 mile training ride this morning for those doing the shorter distance, I thought it might be a laugh, I turned up to find riders of all abilities, there was about 40 of them and to find the route was now 38 miles, I doubt some of them could do that distance, they were also planning on going out in one group, I did voice my concerns that this would be dangerous but no one took any notice, luckily there were 2 other guys from my club there who had the same opinion so we went off on our own little ride, we headed over to Charing Glider Club via Badlesmere then came back via Hart Hill.

Wee update ..........Saturday saw me partake in two trips on the mountain bike. Grand total of 12 mile between the two of them. Monday i was struggling in a headwind for a couple of mile to start with. Managed to knock out 11 mile before it was time to head home and get ready for the joy that is the 2 to 10 shift. Hoping to get out Tuesday but the forecast is rubbish....wait and see.

Greetings all! I'm a bit behind in reading about your rides, but will add my wee adventure of the day with @ScotiaLass in the meantime
What a carry on: as usual on a Belles on Bikes ride  "women on bikes, expect delays!" I think this should be our motto
We set out from Glasgow in good time, at 10, to meet @ScotiaLass at the Faulkirk Wheel (25 miles) for 12.30. At 10mph on the flatter than a pancake canal this should be well doable, one should think.
But no, apart from one lassie that showed up at the start with a flat (fixed that), another that had no front brakes (also fixed that) we got a brutal headwind trying to push us back from the very beginning, resulting in a cluster proceeding at slower speed.
"I thought I could do 10mph, aren't we doing it now?"
"Actually, more like 7.5mph, hen"
"Ach, it must be the wind"
.... ermmmm!!!
Arrived to the wheel, where Laura was patiently waiting for us to take us to the Kelpies, all systems go: need toilet, coffee, water, ice cream, powder my nose .... please let's head off in 30 min, oookk ... 30 minutes later, stop, left my glasses in the caf ... give me strength no to go in full blown Hitler mode
Even @Ellebells, the most patient and sympathetic person you could meet, was starting to sight

By now the day, that has started dull and a bit cold, had gotten sunny. Panda eyes all round tomorrow

Part 2 of the Kelpies trip.
Where were we? Ah, yes, 18 Belles on Bikes setting off for the Kelpies
With @ScotiaLass guiding us, we finally make it. Lovely destination, only about 30 miles on the Forth and Clyde canal from Glasgow's Kelvingrove Park, a great day out on the bike that requires some stamina though on a windy day.
The Kelpies, well, one of them with me below:
kelpies and I2.jpg

@Ellebells and I, half baked by the sun, fully battered by the wind:
Michelle and I.jpg
Now, after a wee wander about, a spot of lunch, a zillion of pictures :girl: you would think the matter of deciding whether to ride back or whether to take the train would be a simple one. Of course not ^_^
Various states of knackeredness had to be pondered upon.
My utterance "Look, I'm not going to ride back at 5mph, got stuff to do at home, take the train" was met with incredulous stares. "Nooo? You aren't? Why not?"
.... Harumphh!!!
What happened in the end was certainly not on the plan!
From the original group of 18, 6 of us set out to ride back home. At about 15 miles into the 30 mile return ride, miles from a train station, @Ellebells seat post clamp split: she could not ride with her seat right into the frame, unless she would ride standing up
Searching for a makeshift solution, I break into a nearby building site, not for the first time in my life, may I add , Katy needed a bit of wire lying behind the fence.
After retrieving it, it was of no use to us.
So Katy - lucky she was with us! - the head mechanic of Freewheel North,
decided we would tow Michelle to her workshop in Glasgow Green, just like this:
Michelle towed.jpg
To take this picture I had to ride ahead, stop and shoot it while they were approaching: it was like a disjointed tandem!
Suddenly a cry from Michelle: I lost my seat, I lost my seat!!!
Her saddle had turned, she could not even sit down anymore!
Amidst fits of hysterical laughter from the two of us - we almost fell off our bikes! I drop my Gonzale, run along her while she is standing up the pedals, turn the saddle the right way round  :rofl:
Meantime, it is getting late and a bit chilli: Michelle is wearing my jacket, while I am carrying hers in my panniers - don't ask - but we cannot stop, as Katy is towing, and ain't stopping for anybody!
At around 9mph we were actually going faster than when the wind was hitting us on our way to the Kelpies.
We had sent the other four ahead, so it was just the three of us that reached the outskirts of town at sundown, on the canal towpath were the last comic moment of this tale would happen.
Random (dishy, young) cyclist saw our plight, stops, critically inspects seat post, embarks on a technical assessment of the situation ... "I'm a bike mechanic, you know" :pump:
Inscrutable, a' la Bruce Willis in "Die even Harder", our Katy goes " Yeah, mate, I know, you got - insert name of well known Glasgow bike shop here - written allover your bike! :becool:
Could not resist, I say: Ohh, bike mechanic of blah blah, meet Katy, head bike mechanic of Freewheel North  then, opening my jacket, showing the logo on my t-shirt "We Are The Belles on Bikes"
Next Belles adventure, Pedal on Parliament.
Will we get there for this year's event, or should we start setting out for next year's? :hello:

Sadly my ride was not anywhere near as interesting as that of the Belles and @Pat "5mph" . That said, I did manage to got out and stay dry today, just as well since my shoes had only just dried out from Sundays ride.
Looking at Strava, I noted I only needed 34 miles to reach 700 for the year so far, so that became my target. Silly I know, but I find having an aim helps with my recovery, and makes the solo riding a bit more bearable. Since I normally ride various 10 - 15 mile 'loops', I simply put a few together to make the ride longer. I also wanted to continue 'learning' about the various pains I have been experiencing since my illness last year. Mostly they are what I call 'mobile' pains, and generally I can cycle through them by dropping a cog, upping the cadence and getting the heart rate below 150, but knowing the potential outcome of getting it wrong I always tend to put safety first, so as soon as it hurts I aim for home. Benefit of todays route is I am never that far from the front door. Firstly taking the long way round to get from Egham to Virginia Water, via Chertsey, across Walton Bridge and through Weybridge into Addlestone. Bit of a wrong turn saw me off the intended route and heading towards Chobham and hills which I was trying to avoid. Ho hum, by the time I got to Savill Gardens I'd done 24 miles, slightly longer than the direct route of 6 miles:ohmy: Given my recent rides have all ended around this distance, I think I deserved my cup of coffee and choccy bar:hungry: Figured I'd do a lap of Deer Park and then the direct route home, but felt really good after the first lap so did another, after which I was definitely ready for home. Finished at 42 miles and 1100ft of climbing, more than planned and well pleased with that:smile::smile: Only 1 pic today, that may or may not be a red kite, and this is where the last one made me fall off:laugh:
