There wasn't much competition, to be honest. Field of one.

11 GCSE's, 3 A'Levels, BSc(Hons) Psychology and Certificates in Counselling. Decided being a counsellor wasn't for me though - I have enough of my own problems!

From the counsellors I've known in the past, having your own problems is the most important qualification.

Try this, if you've got a few bob!

'The Stanford's.
A lady in a faded gingham dress and her husband, dressed in a homespun threadbare suit, stepped off the train in Boston.
Walked timidly without an appointment into the president's outer office.

Mr. and Mrs. Leland Stanford walked away, traveling to Palo Alto, California.
Where they established the University that bears their name.
A memorial to a son that Harvard no longer cared about!'

Charming story that it is, Stanford's website says it's a myth.

I left school in 1974 with 7cse's and 1 O level. I hold an NVQ in train driving, (yes it really does exist) and two cycling proficiency certificates and badges from 1968/9:smile:

I'm one of the PhDs here (in social sciences). Of course it is hard work, but in the end it is just vocational training to be a researcher. I also have an MSc (combined environmental and social sciences) and and BA in Modern History (although I did a year of Chinese too).

No degrees here - Chartered Accountant and some ONC/HNC's in Business and Finance - before getting the Accountancy Qual.

Left school at 16 - got a job and studied part time until I was 23.

Just to join Fossyant, the usual 'O's and 'A' levels. Started an Accountancy and Finance degree in Hull but couldn't support myself financially beyond year one. Got a training contract in the City of London (luckily) in the mid 80's and was subsequently admitted to membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 1989. Held a practising certificate until very recently - Institute insisted I should actually be in practice which I thought was a bit OTT.
