A few years ago I joined a forum and naively included my email address in my personal information. Disagreement ensued but participants couldn't separate the argument from the arguer and I had some nasty personal messages as a result. Since then I have tried to remain incognito wherever I post and bow out of disputes. Let's face it even when the subject is serious it is only our opinion we have to offer and we all have an opinion just like we all have an ***hole.

Most of my posts are banter or tongue in cheek I do however take my politics seriously including my contempt of the tory party.

If find the apparant intellectual level on here refreshing even from those I disagree with.

Yes, it really is time to update the avatar!

I got very chubby-cheeked in the years after that picture was taken but I have lost nearly 40 lbs since I got ill so I am slowly getting my slim face back.

My hair is half gone now, and what's left has a lot of grey in it.

At the moment, I still look a bit ill. It depresses me looking more like my late father than myself, so I will wait a while and update the picture once I am well and fit again. But in case you can't wait, I'll take a quick snap for you. (Where's me sunglasses ...?)

I am as you find me here. Always drinking tea (or a coffee), messing about with stuff, not cycling as much as some, occasionally saying more then is socially acceptable.

I also tend to need to think a while before I can compose a response, same as in real life, so I find it easier to converse here then face to face as I have time to think and read my response for typos and ambiguity before posting.

Likewise, sometimes I take time out and don't post/talk to people for a while while I recover from 'social interaction overload'.
