...it's not surprisiing that there are many ways of posting on the internet in general, but I'm more interested in how you do it, or think you do it, on this particular forum. In real life we all, I suspect, interact in different ways depending on how well we know someone, what image we want to present, how serious the interaction is, and many more, but it's also about our perception of ourselves.
Do you think that you post on here in the same way that you would talk to somebody in the real world?
Are you deliberately provocative for comic or controversial reactions?
Are you self-consciously lighter on here for amusement purposes?
Do you feel affronted if others won't agree or be persuaded by your cogent argument?
I have no scientific reason for posing the question apart from the fact that I am occasionally amazed at the seriousness how some take themselves.
Of course, I'm aware that any of your responses will be laced with the lack of self-esteem you exhibit in all your posts:whistle:
Waddya think?

I like to think that my posts on here are a reflection of how I am in real life. It's not a conscious thing, but I think to try and be something you're not would just be too difficult to keep up the charade long term.

If anything, I am probably less argumentative on here though, as I am on here for enjoyment and don't want to spend my leisure time being confrontational with people. There are certain threads where I've wanted to tear my hair out and hurl abuse but instead have just kept away.

I'm better looking in real life.
Oh, and there was me thinking you were the cyclist in your avatar!

Back on topic, I'm aware of trying to be amusing most of the time, and helpful for a good part of the rest. I do know, though, that in real life, while I generally start out on the cheerful, honest, friendly tack, I'm a vicious bastard when I'm angry, and surprisingly mouthy when people let me down on the cheerful, honest and friendly approach.

I'm also aware of trying not to allow myself to get anywhere near that snapping point online. As being online is partially filling an emptiness in my private life, it would serve no purpose making a nuisance of myself and finding myself with neither.
