Bored stiff and wasted a load of time this afternoon looking at bike websites to see what country each make is from, as the bike is being serviced at Halfords. Well i hope they sort out the gears or it will be back before they have chance to say "FIXED" . Then post a message on strava in the club section, only to be told about a TT going on around the loop I normally ride in the evening! Im just about to serve tea and have no bike to get there AAAAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHH

My non ride today was a walk from the Three Locks Pub, just north of Leighton Buzzard, 4 miles along the Grand Union Canal with Mrs P and the dog to bridge 101 and then back again to the pub for lunch and a couple of pints of Brill Gold. A fine day, even If I wasn't on the bike.

Hi @cosmicbike! I hope today hasn't been too boring for you.

My non-ride was due to me having to go out much earlier than usual and then not getting my *rse into gear in time to bike it. I had to leap into the car, having wasted too much time footering about with contact lenses etc.

However, as often happens when taking the train, in order not to be late I had taken the one before and so arrived at London Bridge with time in hand. Instead of plunging into the Underground I walked along the river to Rotherhithe, where I spent the day rehearsing. Crumbs it was nice. Sunny but it hadn't heated up - nice breeze - low tide - cormorants. And I was still the first person to arrive.

I was quite glad when I got home that I didn't have to cycle back from the station - it was boiling and I was knackered, having been very active all day (it's so different from sitting at a desk, which I also do from time to time). But I felt that a 35-min brisk walk was a good bit of exercise.

Sorry you can't do the same for a bit :hugs:

6 hours with my wonderful daughter at three parks in the wonderful sunshine. Amazing day with my favourite person in the world + an ice cream at each.
My 2 kids went to the park with mum today, annoying that I have to miss these things. I was in hospital this time last year with the same thing, so missed most of the school holidays last year too:sad:
Still, got a great family round me, so the kids won't miss out. I shall spend my time learning to walk properly again, and I will be able to go for rides with the kids I hope..

Well today started badly at 00:20 with some quite stunning pain waking me up. At this point I had managed to avoid morphine, so popped a Tramadol tablet and hung on. Took the edge off and finally drifted back to sleep.
Pain kicked off again following the mornings shuffle to the bathroom, and once more manageable with Tramadol. The next set of pain wasn't though, and simply crept up on me whilst doing nothing besides lying in bed reading a book. A dose of morphine did little to help, and the best part of an hour went by with some inappropriate language (thankfully the kids were at the garden centre with Mum) but no let up in pain. By now my good lady was home, and chasing my GP for the next level of pain relief which I had hoped to avoid. Whilst pretty effective, Fentanyl has some terrible side effects and horrendous withdrawal symptoms. So now I hurt less, but am feeling sick, sweating buckets, itching all over and dizzy.
Here's hoping for a better nights sleep tonight....

Dear oh dear @cosmicbike, it sounds awful.

I didn't ride today because I am still weird n dizzy from my migraine, so I went to the doc myself. Nothing like what you're having to get through though! She gave me some migraine drugs - first time I've had them.

I spent a fruitless half-hour trying to fix the cable on my dad's Rollator (old person's push trolley) but needed one more hand than I have. Just as well I had the car so I could take it away for another shot at it tomorrow.

I hope you get a good sleep, cosmic.

Hope you are feeling a touch better this morning and managed to get some rest overnight. Having been a chronic pain sufferer who ended up living off 8 tramadol tablets a day for years and years until I finally talked my consultant into severing certain nerves, you have my sympathies. Ironically I now suffer from a condition where I don't sense acute pain (at the time of trauma) anywhere on my body (not just the limb the nerves were severed in) and whilst it has its benefits, not knowing you are injured is not always that helpful! (didn't know the dog had ripped 1/3 of my the back of my calf off, for instance, yet I could feel its hot breath on my leg:wacko:!)

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
Hope you feel better soon cosmicbike. My non ride day is looking after my sons rugrats again, and taking my eldest grandson to the dentist this afternoon

For those who don't know me - I normally live at Staines but we were flooded in February and are waiting to get hosue back in habitable state - at preent rate may be some time
We are living in Mum and Dad's house - Dad died last Dec and Mum is in nursing home
The house hasnt had as much maintenance as it might

The front door lock started playing up
Would not give the jkey back
Could not fix it so have been replacing the lock

Have done similar jobs before without too much trouble
This one however has been a different matter

The door must be made of oak or similar hardwood
I do not have all my normal tools here and have to rely on what I can find of dad's

Finally finished it today and there is now a problem, kitched door handle has come off
:banghead:
Will /must get out tomorrow

Sorry to hear you were one of those flooded @Stonechat We are in Egham and the floodplain ends at the end of our drive, so we just missed it. Was quite worrying watching the water slowly creeping up the road towards the house. How long until you get back into your home, some friends were flooded out and have been told late August/early September..
