There's a fair number of Kingfishers on the Mashes across the road from me. Have quite often raced one along a drainage ditch that runs alongside the road.I‘ve seen them flashing past going down the river, but still not seen one perched close up.

There are kingfishers in the Ravensbourne, down in SE London. They quite often use the same perches so if you see one perched you have a good chance of seeing it again. The ones in the Ravensbourne seem to use them at similar times of the day (though as it's tidal, they may be going on depth of water).I‘ve seen them flashing past going down the river, but still not seen one perched close up.
That bird has got quite an interesting expression, almost can hear it saying "I know what you're doing and I normally charge for it"Seen on the walk today, first time I've managed to spot one whilst I've had my camera handy..
