Dragon flies are all over my pond, too.

We're keeping our tadpoles separate from the pond because we have an army of newts who would make short work of them. We'll release them into the pond when they're too big for the newts, about when they start growing legs, I reckon.

We stopped on the road west of Pollensa to admire the view over the rocky hills. A huge osprey came and soared around about a hundred feet above us for a few minutes. I've no idea how big it was but they can have wingspans up to six feet. A wonderful sight.

Only a cotton-pick'n Peregrine Falcon, if you don't mind!! I've never seen one of those before other than on holiday, so it was a complete shock to see one sitting on a telegraph pole just by the house. Watched it for 5 minutes, but I was late for something and had to dash. That's made my week.

Here's a still shot from the monitor that is fed from our blue tit spy cam. There are nine chicks in the nest box, the same number as a week ago. Some are much bigger than others and manage to get more grubs from their parents when they bring food. The smaller ones get pushed out of the way by their bigger siblings when it's meal time. It's heart-breaking to watch. I suspect that the weakest two or three will be dead in a couple of days.

The survivors will leave the nest box in about four or five days, according to the experts.
