Simple, remember (if you can) your dad's cars when you were a kid?

Well post them here.

Viva, first car I really remember- he span it on snow with the full family in it - mum was not impressed

Got a good job, so bought a Mirafiori

Then he went all 'Life on Mars/Sweeney' and bought a MK3 (cough) Cortina Twin Cam in Bronze

I left home.

Austin Maxi. There really is nothing to like about it whatsoever.
Can't believe it got us to Southern Italy and back one year. Still, beats Ryan Air I guess!

Ignore the build quality issues and questionable styling for one second, the Maxi was way ahead of it's time in many ways - FWD with end on 5 speed box, cable operated gearchange, practical hatchback design - reads like the spec sheet for any family car today. A MK1 Escort in comparison may have been more durable but it was yesterday's technology even then.

Edit - first car I remember was a 1973 MKIII Cortina 1.3L - the earlier model with the cool sloping dashboard.

I better say no more then on that car, as the Maxi fanclub are clearly formidable foes ^_^

How about this monster, which my Dad replaced the Maxi with in about 1979?!

That would be an extremely rare car to have nowadays. I think I only saw 2 in my life.
Yeah it was very rare, was a really nice car in gleaming white but someone came out of a junction and smashed into the side of it, he was gutted, they were that rare that he actually had a argument with someone a few years later as they didn't believe that the 2 door existed so didn't believe he owned one
