Now, this is a lighthouse...
The Fastnet Rock. 7 miles off Cape Clear Island. Good luck getting to it!

Anglesey's the only place I've ever seen a chipshop "closed for lunch". This was at lunchtime just to be clear. Very odd place

In downtown Halifax I once tried to order some food in a pub to be told that the chef was on her lunch....and would be back just after 2pm

(Obviously the pub had ideas above it's station as at that time of the day the chef should have been having her dinner  )

I wouldn't mind a converted watertower. You don't get many lighthouses or windmills in town.

... that said, a Martello tower would be cool
There's a converted watertower in Thorpeness available for holiday rents, which I initially thought was an old windmill when I first saw it - http://www.houseintheclouds.co.uk/

Or, if you've got a couple of quid stashed away, a converted Martello Tower for sale in Felixstowe - £750,000 guide price http://www.struttandparker.com/properties/south-hill-1

A Windmill for me, all about location. location, location and they are usually in a better location whereas light houses are more remote and can be subject to horrible weather ;)

I stayed in a lighthouse for a weeks holiday in 1997. The fog horns in all the northern lighthouses had been turned off by then as ships were using GPS, but not always successfully. There was a wreck below our lighthouse caused by the captain setting his autopilot on leaving Belfast, aiming at the wrong light then getting drunk.

The lighthouse in Playa Blanca, Lanzarote would be very nice.
It's on the mainland, not stuck out on rocks in a howling gale
There's lots of cycling nearby and a path all along the coast right into town
(No pics of the lighthouse but this is the path). :bicycle:
