Not sure why they'd want to ruin a good cuppa with biscuit flavoured tea

I think they're trying to replicate 'that taste' when you dunk a digestive and you end up dunking it too much and the dunked bit of the biscuit falls into the brew. I've never experienced it myself, but to some the tea then takes on a slight biscuit flavour.🤔

never had it, nor black pudding, though some of the folks I've met down south years ago seemed to assume I lived on the stuff.

Tea for hard water has been around for a while. I’m not sure what they do to it but limescale can certainly ruin a brew. I have to admit that soft lancaster water is excellent For tea.
