Ah! But I'm an East Midlander by birth and upbringing. Therefore I'm an incomer in Yorkshire.

He's discommunicated... dead to all true Yorkshiremen. Is somebody going to wheel out Geoff Boycott?
Nay lad, Sheffield's in't West Riding, as anyone wi't'sense they were born with well nos- think on.We used to have splendid fun at work winding up a Yorkshireman about Sheffield being in Derbyshire.
A fictionalised village called Hotten which could be anywhere around the posh parts of Northern Leeds. I’ve cycled around some of the millionaires rows on the way to Ilkely & back. Some nice riding around there.Isn't emmerdale set in yorkshire?
On the odd occasion i've accidentally seen a bit of it everyone seems dressed up and made up to the nines going about their daily business/soapy rows.
Was in Esholt, Shipley, now a mock-up set on the the outskirts of Leeds and the ITV studios in Leeds.A fictionalised village called Hotten which could be anywhere around the posh parts of Northern Leeds. It clearly is a marvellous place.
I shall celebrate today , by very thoroughly 'knowing what I like, and liking what I know'

OK i did leave fairly young to spread the Yorkshire benefits more widely.
But I still love going back for the landscape , and the accent.
One(maybe more) for here...Keep it quiet, but i have a Yorkshire connection. My mum's cousin (he confessed one night down the pub) and my ex,ex lady friend (who frequently said that Yorkshire fish and chips were 'the best' which annoyed me immensely!) were born in Halifax and i lived in a village called Cowling, near Keighley for a year or so in the late 1980's.
