I think I'd go for the Viner. Good spec - 50/34 chainset 11-28 cassette. Very light - 7.55 kg! Can you get to Sheffield to try one? Otherwise I like the look of the Specialized, but note it has a semi compact chainset - 52/36. Tyre size is not that relevant. You may not find much, if any, difference in the actual measurement of the tyres fitted, though it would be good to be able to fit wider tyres if you want them - check it out - up to 28's maybe. I'd be changing them to GP4000s anyway.
Yes. But the 'Viner' models Planet X sells have nothing to do with the original company (1948-2012). They bought the name, trade off the heritage, but the frames are the same far-eastern models they sell under various other names. Nothing wrong with the bikes per se (well, some are better than others) but that rankles a bit with me...@StuAff rides a Viner. He loves it.
