Why does that go to show cats kill?

You quoted me out of context, I stated they can kill anything, in this case a human ,in an accident who died from injuries, the cats didn't do that. Intentionally.
Even , then a Sumatran Tiger would kill you, aan Asian Lion will kill you any of the big cats you care to mention could kill you, a cat is a cat, it wilfully do what it wants.

I quoted you very much in context and directly, because cats didn't do that at all.

I actually agree with the point you are trying to make, just not with the example you are quoting.

One of mine has never been known to hunt anything, which is odd as he was a stray for a few years. He found it easier to scrounge from old ladies and creep into other cats' homes to steal their food.

The other cat doesn't hunt as such, also being an expert suburban scrounger, but if a bird is stupid enough to fly within three feet of him, it will be in his stomach a minute or so later. It's happened two or three times. He's big and flabby, but he has reflexes most animals can only dream of.

They go with what works. With our Burmese, Zorro would just stand around looking soppy and hoping for treats, which was a very successful tactic. We once lost him for almost a week and discovered that someone else had started feeding him because he appeared to be hungry. The only attempt at hunting I'm aware of ended up damaging his nose. He optimistically charged across the landing after a bird he saw through the window and sailed head first into the glass. The other two were seasoned hunters with reflexes to match.

Sadly after I left home I discovered I was violently allergic to cats, so no pets in this household - other than tortoises.

There is a breed of cat that is naturally bred to be huge the 'Maine Coon' , despite its size ,it's really quite a chill breed, , but whatever , cats are one of natures apex predators, nothing will change that, from domestic to the large cats they are born killers, you got to accept that, some are domesticated, which are our 'moggies'.

We had 'coons back in the day and they were huge fun with loads of character as well as their sheer presence but sadly they all died fairly young compared to the 15-20 years of a normal moggie. And this is despite the great lengths the couple we got them from went to to try and mix up the genetics even to the extent of importing cats from the US. I guess it's the same problem as the giant dog breeds who also seem to have short lives.

As an aside only the timid scardey cat managed to catch much, including quite impressively eating a whole magpie on one occasion. His bigger and much fiercer brother caught nothing I suspect due to him being having the stealth of a herd of elephants.

We've got a chubby Cat but she'll sit on the summerhouse roof and if a bird flies past she can grab it in midair, seen it a couple of times and still can't believe how fast she can move.
