It's the forum swear filter. It replaces various "bad" words with unusual alternatives. "peanut" and "daffodil" are two such. I'm not sure what words, but if you're interested you could experiment and find out.

I think it highlights the dangers of substituting words in a swear filter. A profanity which many would find unacceptable is removed. The substitute word has a modern slang meaning which is a derogatory reference to gay men and cross-dressers, has other gentler but still derogatory vibes when used more generally.

It doesn't work.

Overall I don't recognise the behaviour you describe. Perhaps it varies across the country? I'm in Lancashire.
Possibly: I've never tried a club north of the Wash-Wye line. But I think it's more likely the cycling equivalent of "why's it always an Audi?" Not all Audi drivers are muppets but there's something about lighter aero bikes going faster that attracts a higher proportion of muppets.

I fully acknowledge clubs have d******** amongst their membership but have never seen it as prevalent as you describe. Only a month ago I called out one of our guys for his misogynistic comments and attitude.
👏

I've avoided these examples but here goes. I often see groups of riders on flatbars, usually wearing heavy bright yellow jackets, even in summer, sometimes backpacks, sometimes rackpacks. These riders never respond to a wave or shout.
I rarely see such groups and not waving isn't really in the same league as being telling people they're awfut at cycling.

I ride a lot of gravel, I use my bell whenever I need to. I usually get a smile or thankyou from walkers. I'd put myself in the 1% of riders who do this. When I'm walking, especially on towpaths, MTBers approaching from behind never announce themselves. From the front they make no attempt to slow. Just this morning four MTBers came round a blind bend on the road out of my village. It's a dead end. One on my side of the road so busy looking left chatting to his mate I had to brake hard to avoid him hitting me. On Rivington, a big local MTB area, it's very common to encounter groups of MTB riders descending trails at speed who simply expect walkers to stand aside.
Again, poor behaviour but lacks the insult/derision/condescension aspect.

You have a point, the swear filter was installed by @Shaun the forum's owner, many years ago.
It's probably due an update.
The mods team will bring it to @Shaun's attention for when he next tinkers with the software.
(Found two words not filtered, removed them myself)

This might get locked if we continue!
Indeed it might ^_^
