Absolutely, I know brickie apprentices on £90 per day, riggers on £350 per day, plasterers on £250 per day and they're stacked out with work.
Don't even think a degree entitles you to look down on people with a trade.
I know where I would rather be.
Yes, there are also graduates who have gone back to trade schools, done the apprenticeships and in the trade now. This is no longer phenomenon. And many of these trades are regulated to meet safety standards and building codes.

One of the 'rags' reporting that people are starting to panic buy 'fuel' - aka petrol/diesel

Time to get the bikes out.

I saw a film from the states where cashiers at filling stations were recording punters filling up plastic bags, in their 'trunks' with petrol..

I'd like to think people in this country aren't quite that dumb yet .

I'd like to...

For once though I've got ahead of the game and got my years consignment of red diesel delivered a couple of my weeks back

Just as well, my regular supplier phoned me up yesterday, to say there was a longer lead in time for deliveries

Oh well, let's hope it makes the roads a bit quieter.

I can't believe it was 2000, the last 'fuel crisis'

It was a joy to be able to idle along such quiet roads on a bike..

Bit like covid times.

But I'll feel less bad about this being the reason.

I had a 2.5 V6 company car in the last fuel crisis  with a 60 mile commute every day. I did get on the bike when I wasn't needed to be out and about a couple of times. I was drafting HGV's down the motorway to keep the fuel consumption to it's maximum.

I've no fuel in the car at the moment - there better be fuel in the petrol station next week when I need to fill it up. A few of us are off mountain biking in Wales - I ain't riding my MTB to Wales and back (we did it on road bikes last week).

baby wipes are the latest thing in my super market to be panic bought. they get a batch in and they are gone the same day
i think we need the restriction on multiple buying again unfortunately

Nuts

I'm going to start sounding like an old person here.

But what's wrong with a bowl of warm soapy water and a flannel ??

It did for my kids precious little, faces, and botties 90% of the time .

A 50 mile commute in a 10mpg car back in 2000 but ... it ran on leaded petrol as well as unleaded, which was always available ^_^

I filled up yesterday as we've trips this week, including to Ireland.

In the shop this morning there were a lot of gaps, but enough of most things if you bought the alternative.
