Words that you or others struggle to pronounce

After reading the various posts, I am somewhat relieved that I am not alone. Till today, I avoid some words. A mental block.

That’s a bit like newcomers trying to pronounce Milngavie when they first see it.

Spoiler: pronunciation

it's pronounced 'mull-GUY'.

Unless of course you are an incomer to Milngavie and its pronounced "Mil-GUY".

Heard the boy on radio 2 this morning trying to pronounce Kirkcudbright, it was hilarious.

Up north, where I used to live, there is a village, near Warrington, called Leigh - pronounced "Lee"
Down south, near Sevenoaks, there is a village called Leigh - pronounced "Lie"

There's a tendency in Northern Ireland to pronounce the name of the UK parliament as Westminister.

After struggling with 'millenium' for near on nine months..

I gave up.

And reverted back to what is so much easier for me to say 'Minellium .

And continue to do, so to this day.

Much to the delight of the 'compulsive correctors'

That's quite apt, as rather than saying Accrington, I say, "that shoot hole that makes Blackburn look good"

That's perfectly acceptable. She's probably like me who refuses to pronounce French words/names in a poncy French accent. I hate it when newsreaders and reporters call yon Macron 'Macwaaan'.🧐
