And this is another problem. Making a statement that implies everyone who disagrees is "racist" or "against equality" isn't helpful, especially if the original term is ill-defined.
I can only speak for myself here and it has been my experience that people who have referred to me or others who do things to support victims of prejudice and discrimination as ‘woke’ are not nice people.
They express extreme views of how those victims should be treated, and show not the slightest empathy or understanding for the troubles of their fellow human beings.
Historically, demonising the opposition tends to have negative consequences
The demonising of those among us who do show empathy and understanding for others has been embraced by a certain element who have weaponised the word ‘woke’ as a way to denigrate those whose kindness they disagree with or oppose.
I’d ask everyone to think about that: people doing the decent thing, supporting those in difficulty, are being mocked for that.
