You need to try them both on and see which are the better fit it would seem. Both are great boots and get lots of rave reviews here and all over the numerous cycling Web pages, I looked when I got mine. Best to go with some summer socks and winter ones and try them out or order them both of wiggle and return the ones you don't want. Warm and dry feet makes winter so much nicer.

I use Northwave Fahrenheit winter boots, best bit of winter cycling gear I have ever used.

Haha, cruel fate. Having decided to get the Northwave Celcius for £100 off of Wiggle, I see that they are now £131, meanwhile, the deal at CRC which @potsy suggested (thanks) is no good for the Celcuis as they don't have my size. I think I'll just grab the Shimano's for £30 less at CRC.

Thanks for your help everyone, in the end I didn't bother with trying an EU47 Celsius and I didn't want to spend £30 more on the Celcius over the MW81. I've ordered a pair of EU46 MW81s from CRC (thanks @potsy again for the 'ten' tip) for only £99, so hopefully being one size up should give me some room without being loose. If they don't fit I can return them as long as the labels are still on etc. so we'll see how it goes.

I've used both.
The Shimano ones are better fastened, with velcro straps, whereas the Northwave has a fiddly lace arrangement.
Both very warm and comfortable. I'd say the Northwaves are a bit warmer.

As far as I could tell, the MW81s have the advantages of a better fastening system as you mentioned, and reflective detailing. The reviews would point to the Celcius boots being slightly warmer and possibly more waterproof. Hopefully someone will find my DeFeet Woolie Boolie 2 socks so I don't have to replace them; I reccon wearing those with the boots I wouldn't get cold feet. I can also put my outer tights over the boot cuff to deflect water.

Yes, that's the one I have. I find it quite fiddly, as you have to tuck the long drawstring lace underneath the velcro.
I cut mine shorter as it was a pain and they work far better than way. Not sure why they have so much of the string it's not as if you put them on wearing massive lobster gloves lol
