I've just put full mudguards on my Sirrus sport will do as my winter bike - that said I am a fair weather cyclist so it'll likely have a nice time tucked up in the shed

I'd get an alu hybrid/tourer with decent tyres for the winter

My Trek hybrid is getting prepared for the winter, full guards, 28mm tyres and good and heavy for extra training.

Can't wait

Why a carbon bike?
A great thing to do in the winter is to ride a heavier bike. A nice bit of training ;)
Especially as it can be harder to get the miles in during the winter due to the weather and it's not always safe to go as fast.

I would buy a good alu/steel/ti frame which is cheap to run and can take full length mudguards.

+1. I certainly wouldn't buy a cf bike for winter, mind you I wouldn't buy a cf bike full stop but I'll leave that there  I'm just putting the finishing touches to my Peugeot aluminium framed winter build, full length 'proper' mudguards, jobs a good 'un
