My singlespeed on a wet ride to work a few weeks ago. This is a 1977 Mercian Campionissimo frame which I bought as a complete bike with mostly knackered parts; I think the only original bits are the frame, forks and seatpost.

I never thought I would want a single speed with all of the hills around here but after putting a 24 tooth freewheel on a new to me Fuji a couple of weeks ago simply because I like the uncluttered look it gives the bike I find I now use it almost daily for a 3 mile circuit I like to do in the afternoon before cooking dinner.
Yes it need handlebar tape, this was before I finished it.
