." I have a bike camera"
I wish I'd had one on Friday, in the space of a mile I met:
two road triangles sticking out into the (narrow) road, two sheets of hardboard, two lorries parked on double yellows, a car reversing towards me on an off road cycleway and a white van parked on it. I'm afraid to say I banged the side of the white van..

Oh Kate, hope the bike's ok ;)

I banged it with my fist, not my bike...bike's far too precious to waste on a van:rolleyes:

My problem is that, when I get beeped on the road near home, I don't always know whether it is a "get out of the way" beep or a "Hi, good to see you" beep from somebody in the village.

On more than one occasion a two fingered wave has had to be quickly changed to a cheery "How are you?" wave

I have a philosophy that I ALWAYS assume it's friendly and smile/wave accordingly. If it's not then it REALLY pisses them off ...

Actually in 7 months I've not encountered a single rude, aggressive or incompetent driver. There I've jinxed it now.

Words of wisdom from my motorcycle instructor that i believe applies to all those who ride on two wheels.- "Ride defensively. Ride as if everyone is out to get you".
Good advice, and it doesn't just apply to motorbikes or bicycles. I believe that everyone should take this attitude and I suspect there would be a lot fewer accidents!

Thank you all for the replies: I am not a numpty by Cchat vote  Well, not in this instance, anyway

I maybe shall try a different approach to the junction: I shall wear a sign on my back " beep if you're male, single, into diy, must like cats"

I'm all of those things and get a 20% discount at B&Q, pretty good catch here! ;)
