Today was my first 'proper' ride since I crashed a couple of months ago. And my first ride on the bike I crashed.

I'd planned a route which I estimated to be 40odd miles but I took a wrong turn and doubled back on myself by accident. I still managed to do 40 miles yet somehow feel cheated as I'm sure I could have done more had I not mistaken one junction for another.

I was a little hesitant into the corners but the bike is fine, my hand (which I broke) now aches like hull. I guess practice will get me used to cornering again and help strengthen the hand.

I didn't go riding. I spent the entire day tidying up the garage so that there's room to put my new bike in!

Tomorrow I can't go riding because I'll be waiting for a phone call to say that my new bike is ready for collection.

Sunday - on Sunday I'll go riding!

Cycled to car auction site to pick up a car I'd bought earlier in the day.

Very sunny, about 18 miles of beautiful sweeping hills.

Lovely. Managed to avoid getting oil on the upholstery, which won me some Brownie Points.

Then went for an 8-mile ride with eldest child. Just a sort of work-out on the road.

Tomorrow I ride to mother-in-law's house 70 miles away with youngest (11).

Why he's keen to ride, I do not know. But he is, so we will.

Today managed just 15 miles due some fence painting ....
However, my route took in a hill I haven't been up since about October last year, and then I had to stop twice due to out of breath/energy. This time it was straight up, no stopping and not out of breath !!! Also the right gearing at the right time helped.
Quite pleased with myself, it was only 0.5 km (A40 up to Beaconsfield) but these success build your confidence.

I tested a Pearson Touche today. Very nice ride around the Sutton hills. If i can manage those I can manage the slopes of croydon.

No ride on the bike today, as I had to work. Same thing tomorrow, but Sunday should be good.

Planning a ride up Crickley Hill, with the plan at this stage being that I don't stop to "admire the view" on my way up!!!

Also looking forward to the ride down Leckhamton Hill as my reward, hoping to crack 40mph on the way down
