Fixed wheel fanatic.
I'm thinking ahead here and in the research phase!

I'm going to have a go at building some wheels over the summer and I'd like to build using a good quality light rim (like a mavic open pro) but I'd like a white rim. I see loads of bikes with white rims from new and loads of built up factory wheels but I can't find anyone who makes, let alone sells white 700c road rims.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I'm even considering buying a silver rim and painting it, ruining any weight saving I might get:laugh:

White rims  = madness! They wont be white for long so just get grey ones and cut out the middle man....

If you really want white rims just get them vinyl wrapped as its easier to wipe down than paint

I recently bought a different type of wheel (a fixie 700c) with a white rim, its a Raleigh but I doubt its a good quality light rim as it was the cheapest available ;)

It is for my fixed, but i want to have a crack at building some wheels too. I reckon doing a pair of wheels with tracks hubs is going to be a lot easier for a first build than having to sort out dishing and tensioning for a ten speed rear wheel:smile:

Amazon has a few fix wheelsets and rims in white but I couldn't vouch for their lightness other than I doubt they will be
OT my rear fixie rim got pummelled in a shunt but I'm thinking of getting a new rim and like you I think it could be a easier start to wheel building ;)

Prove it!
Being an old fart I don't have to prove it, I just know

They are quite heavy. It's hilly here and when I replaced the old wheels on my road bike I didn't half notice the difference.
I do all my own maintenance, apart from wheels. I've read up on it and it seems pretty simple - patience being the biggest attribute needed.

This is what you want. Good price, decent weight and quality. Not my cuppa tea but on the right bike these will look good I reckon

Edit, misread that you wanted a rim only for self build. Sorry!
No worries  Planet x do some good, light stuff at a reasonable price. I've got a couple of their bits and bobs on my wish list!
