Fair enough. Do you know how well it fixes to a helmet? I bought a helmet mount for pennies from Dealextreme, and the torch fits fine.

I have it attached to my helmet using cable ties, two at the front of the head band, two a the rear of the head band near the battery case, no chance of it accidentally coming off.
It is possible to just remove the head band and cable tie the light and battery case directly, the light can be swivelled up and down as it is attached to it's mount via a hinge.

In fact if you register, it is £71.91!

What on the website?

Surely just a matter of pointing it down at the road - and if your mounting allows, slightly to the left?
I can't see any reason to point a Hope Vision 1 straight ahead horizontally - it's a relatively narrow beam and IME won't light up the road surface adequately if you do.

Well of course I am pointing it down at the road! For me, at the speed I ride at, I centre the beam about 5 metres ahead. Lights with circular beams however have a lot of overspill radiating out. Because I ride a lot with Mrs TF at night and she has the same light I can assure you if she is behind me and a car is behind her, when I look back I cannot see anything but her light. As for angling the light down or to the left, yes you can angle it slightly to the left but not enough. I can't angle it down because it is tight on my bars and anyway why should I have to? Surely it's not beyond the wit of man to design a light that is user friendly to other road users.
There are plenty of forums around that revel in who is packing the most punch with the most powerful light, but if you can't dip that light then you are just as much a menace on the road as a car that doesn't dip. All we are doing is alienating car drivers because there is no law regarding the regulation of front bike lights in this country.
I enjoy night riding and it's great to have a powerful light and it looks like the new Philips LED does a great job, just a shame it only runs for 2 hours on max.

with the twin light set up of AyUps I angle the offide one slightly further down/lower than the nearside. This seems to reduce the problem.

On the odd occasion a car driver has angrily flashed me after dipping their lamps I either

Put a finger over one of the AyUp lights, and all is good
-or-
Think.... "take one for team you moton muppet" for all the times oncoming cars have not dipped their lights for me and destroyed my night vision, usually downhill, usually on a bend.

I use an LED Lenser P7 torch attached to my helmet. 40 quid. I've also got Ayups on my bars. The Ayups are enough for fast riding on unlit roads, but flick on the P7 and it's like the Ayups aren't even on.

Is that a brightness, a focus or a colour temperature thing I wonder?

I've now got hold of the Philips bike light. I've only used it once so far, but even with some failing light remaining, I was quite impressed with this light. It certainly feels sturdy (a little heavy, but not too bad) and I like the fact that you can charge it via USB.

I'll be reviewing it properly and updating the review as I use it on my blog (see my signature) if anyone is interested.
