Is there a Decathlon anywhere near you?

Have a hunt around for 2010 bikes going cheap as ex stock (2011 bikes are already out). Also, get one before the VAT increases.

I am fairly new to cycling myself and have a 5 year old Marin Mill Valley hybrid that I bought off a mate for a great price and it is a cracking bike. However I recently bought a Giant CRS 4.0 for my wife which is a slightly lesser model than the one gOOSe mentioned. I think it is superb for what we paid and I just cannot grumble about anything about it. It has a strange rear cassette with 6 regular gears and then a huge step up to the easiest gear that makes it awesome for very steep hills if you are pretty unfit like I currently am. Not sure that that model has the same gearing. They seem like great bikes for little cash.

What about a Dawes Kalahari ! 24 gears , Mudguards , rear rack and front suspension . I had one and it could go anywhere , indestuctible in fact . £259 on Bikes2UDirect . Worth a look .
