Were few corsairs built or were they rustbuckets? They seemed to disappear very rapidly, haven't seen one for decades. Very distinctive front end and as a kid I was impressed, but must admit I have no idea if they were decent cars.

310,000 made, 350 still about, I remember some very rusty ones.

My Uncle had one, 2.0L V4 engine I seem to recall and as a 6yr old I thought it was great but then he swapped to a Vandem Plas 'Princess' 4 litre R (Rolls Royce engine from an armoured car) now that was nice but horrendous on petrol consumption. Uncle Jack then sold the Princess to my dad and bought a Mercedes with a V12 in it..................................that used even more fuel.

When the Zodiac went my Dad got a new Lancia Beta 2 litre. Fast, stylish, exotic, but within weeks the obvious happened. Within a year one of the wheels rusted so badly it sheared off...that was bought back by Lancia and the old feller got a new Peugeot 504Ti. That was every bit as robust as the Beta wasn't, but was similarly fast, stylish and unusual.

I quite liked the Corsair, but my Dad was posh and we had the last of the Zodiacs, the big square rigged ones.

My Dad had a left hooker ,quite scary being sat on the right :laugh:

Ford Consul Classic as it's the first car I remember my dad having and then the Escort Mk1, remember both fondly

A Peugeot 504 diesel estate is on my list of 'I'd like one of these'
That's the 'were day to day'/'rarely seen anymore' cars list (not the exotica/fancy stuff)

In no particular order then;
Peugeot 504 estate (the 'africar', before the term was rally invented) -a Dangel derivative would be nice...................
Skoda Rapid 130 (the coupe)
Ford Cortina mk1 estate
Ford Cortina mk2 1600E
Mercedes W123 series(?) - the models that had the chrome roof-bars, & colour-coded hubcaps
Range Rover - the real one!! (70 -85)

Yes Beta and Gamma were great looking cars and always wanted one. Can't understand why new Lancias look so dull?
