Been thinking of what's most important, not into racing, so would be more for distance at a decent speed and comfort level. Ok if I took a fancy could be persuaded to give it the beans. Lol
Do you currently own a bike ? If not grab a cheap MTB out the papers or ebay and get cycling so when you get your dream machine your body will be used to cycling so it wont be such a shock to the system also you will be like poop of a shovel

Might be worth looking at sportive/audax bikes? Not really meant to carry the load of a true tourer, but usually allow the fitting of bigger tyres (makes a big diff. in comfort), mudguards, and may have a more upright riding position than an out & out race bike.
