OK, I have an old singlespeed that I built from a scrapyard find, and an expensive Carbon Cannondale.

It's a beautiful day and I have time to do a two or three hour ride; I know it's an opportunity to ride the Cannondale but basically I'd rather ride the singlespeed!

For some reason I just find the Cannondale remote; I always come back strangely unmoved by the experience. I know the back wheel is noisy and the bottom bracket needs some attention but I just haven't bonded with the bike!

I want to ride the singlespeed; I know I'll come back buzzing and thinking what a great bike it is.

I keep thinking, though, if I don't have a good ride on the Cannondale, its days have to be numbered. Maybe I should take it out and make a decision when I get back.

Funny how sometimes the best things on paper are not the best things in real life

I'm thinking maybe it's time to find it a new jockey... a mate of mine recently had a bike fit and that might help, but I dunno...

I was thinking the same. Synapse Ultegra Disc, Cycling+ bike of the year 2015.

Maybe I'm just not riding it fast enough!

I like Skol

A Minging Manc...
It's a conundrum! I have seen my dream bike discounted by 20% now it is approaching the end of year sales. I also get a further discount through work so the £2k bike is currently £1.6k and I can buy it for a shade under £1.4.
It isn't the money that is stopping me but the worry that I won't actually enjoy it any more than my current sub-£1k road bike that it would replace and may even enjoy it less (I do really enjoy the current bike :okay:).

Oh well, going for it on the Cannondale.

I put a bit of air in the tyres which might help.

A bike should put a smile on your face when you ride it, so if it doesn't then change it for one that does.

My main ride is a Bianchi Infiniti CV while defo passes the smile on face test.

I do still sometimes take out an old Peugeot 531 steel tourer, nominally the winter steed as it has full proper guards, but it gets the odd sunny run too as sometimes its just how you feel. Lovely smooth ride and looks good, again passes the smile test.

I found something similar with a CAAD 8 I was given once. I really hated it. Use the SS , you know you want to.

I'd love a single speed if I lived in Holland.

In Lancashire you need gears and lots of 'em.

East Lancs yes but west of Preston and it's almost as flat as Holland wouldn't you say? When we meet for our club ride on a Wednesday the bloke who runs it sometimes tosses a coin if the group can't decide where to go. Heads for west tails for east. If it's heads it's a  If it's east to the hills of Yorkshire it's a
