What is this strange concept?

Too many bikes for the size of the garage. Got to get Mrs T's in their as well.

There would be more space if Frau Fritz didn’t have a tandem and a canoe, but then I wouldn’t get to canoe or bike ride with Frau Fritz if she didn’t, so I shan't complain.

Many toys !!

Back when I was in management and making good money I could have afforded to have the upscale car that one lusts after when he’s starting out in this world, but I figured it would rust out damn near as fast as a used car so why not keep buying used stuff and spend the money on toys. Besides, life in management meant no time for holidays so I wasn’t blowing my money on holidays either.

So toys won!

I can’t complain about my old work too much though... the Vespa was a company car!

An updated photo of mine, although most of my work is done in the garden, it’s well used in the winter and the bench mounted stand is great for rebuilds. it’s an 18x8 garage, thinned out at the moment, only 2 motorcycles, 5 bikes and two framesets!

Also doubles up as a utility room/extension to the kitchen. Soon to be split into an office and garage.

Our garage is a bit of a mess. It's got a fair few boxes of my son's car parts, and his assortment of messy car tools - he's not organised. I even built a storage shed to get rid of some of his stuff, but he's filled it.

We've got 9 bikes in ours plus four sets of 'spare wheels hung up. The big 'space eater' has been the addition of a full set of camping gear this last year. We had a small amount of stuff, but we've got a big tent, and associated porta potty, electric hookup, leccy heater, leccy cool box. Add in decent camping chairs, camping beds and a blow up paddle board, space is now a premium. It's organised, I just pull everything out, essentials are in one big box, spare stuff in another, but it takes up so much room.

My workshop is getting some attention.

I'm well on the way with a massive clearout:

Freezer being collected next week to go to a local furniture Trust.
About a million old crumbly inner tubes to a recycling project.
Lots of low quality bike bits in the bin.

Next

The old filing cabinet where I store tools and parts is going to the tip.
A metal panel and plastic parts bins have been ordered.
My son has offered to put up better lighting, replacing the flickering fluorescent with an LED strip light.

My hope is that I will be able to find things if I can see them.

Sadly I had to give up my workshop when me and my partner moved in together. Our back garden has a shed but it's tiny; I can only just fit all of my tools in there, and there's not even room for a bike. I've been thinking about getting a new shed/workshop but the pre-built ones seeman awful lot of money for something that looks like it would blow over in a strong wind. Will have to consider building one out of timber

Updated pics. Gone full circle from being empty’ish, to stuffing to the rafters with bikes. So much so you couldn’t work on, easily get out etc - to now selling ‘alot’……and having some lovely, clear space again 👌

Dont forget the ‘new updated’ piccies 😁

I envy you your tool cabinets. :okay:

Only cheaper end of the Halfords market. I do have quite a few of the Halfords advanced / lifetime warranty tools inside though. I try to add something every time they have a sale. The ‘collection’ soon mounts up if you chip away at it. And nothing worse than trying to fix something on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon only to find the shops are shut and you don’t have the right gear !!
