Dayvo does still live in Oslo and, yes, Norway is still as expensive as ever.

Almost £8 a pint.

Yep, I still live there (from March to October).
A pint sells for a hefty £8.00.
Norway is very expensive, but very good salaries. :becool:

Iceland has come down in price. 12 mths ago you got 125ISK to the pound, it is now 229. So if a meal had cost £40 a year back it would now be £21.83.

What's the bet tourism goes up this year?

Dublin. I remember balking at forking out for a curry when I saw a statospherically priced menu outside of an Indian restaurant so I crossed over the road and had the Irish equivalent of a Wimpy plus a cup of tea -it came to a fiver I nearly choked - this was in 1983! VAT if I recall was at 33% and the only thing I ate besides the burger and chips were crisps and Kit Kats are they were only marginally more expensive than UK prices. The Guinness brewed with Liffy water was worth every penny though

Was was good value was the Dublin day return ticket that got me there from Leeds. It cost £20 - cheaper than a London return and the price included a litre bottle of spirits to be collected on the UK bound leg of the return...

Never seen another offer like it

I once went to Venezia - and i thought it was quite reasonable !

I can see how it CAN be expesive but markets cater for different pockets.

The gondolas cost a bit though.

Think its stopped now. It was part of the North Sea cycle route.

Most expensive place I've been - stick a pin somewhere in Norway. Beer £8 / pint.

Smyril line, they stopped calling in the UK and came very close to going bust early this year but survived with a large bail out from the Faroe goverment and local chamber of commerce.

Paris for me
