I refer to the 39 stone cyclist, whose story of cycling and weight loss inspired so many.

Last I heard he wasn't so well and had given up cycling.

The blog/website appears to have been removed, something about 'domain parking' on the link - not that I'm any expert in these things.

I hope he's OK, but I fear he may not be.

Anyone any news?

The link he's put to follow doesn't look like he's in a good place. Did anyone have regular contact with him?
I remember he was talking about home-life problems. The @sadpasdad Twitter account does not sound very cheerful.

The bits and pieces that I recall:

He remarried.
His health deteriorated to such an extent that he was confined to a wheelchair and his new wife became his carer
He possibly moved to Scotland

I recall reading the blog when he stopped cycling, as said before all looks quite sad situation. Had eating issues when he was posting on here if I recall correctly.

Nothings really changed since THESE posts TBH, but just to be clear it isn't as simple as him having given up on cycling. All being equal he'd be first out the door every time. However we don't live in an ideal world do we and sadly he's simply not physically able to do it anymore, (not weight related BTW it's his MS), plus he's still trying to come to terms with what's happened to him both mentally as well as physically.

His inability to cycle really has been a tremendous loss for Gaz. So much so he even tried riding again a few months ago but within 50 yards needed medical attention after falling! So you can see his determination is solid, but everything else is letting him down just now.

He's still fighting the good fight, still desperately missing life on two wheels but he's still always optimistic that he'll be back one day.

Never say never :okay:
