I got into regular club stuff at 16 - bought myself a good bike (Ultegra level kit) and got into a club.

Hard work at first getting to a fast club level, but most of the lads were a mix of ages - from early 20's to in 40's and 50's.... Started racing from about 18-19

We would quite often met up where the other clubs did, so you'd get a big bunch going out..... about 3 or 4 clubs some times, especially when the weather was poor, so group no's were down.... I'd also recommend getting into racing - that's how I got to know loads of folk.....including the lad that now has a proper bike shop near me.....off whom I am buying a fixed from...soon.

I should probably add that I'm not really into doing competitive stuff/ racing - other sport fits that for me. I just want other people of a similar background to have relatively relaxed, chilled rides with!

Thanks for all the suggestions so far!
