I just ordered a laptop from Dell - just wanted something cheap to surf the net - built to order with loads of extra ram etc arrived in a week. Much more keenly priced as just online and on the phone and great service.

Aldis, along with I think Lidl and Woolies, are one of the places you can get Medion computers - they're a German company that seems only to sell through that handful of outlets. Very good machines, very keenly priced. Rock solid in my experience. Backup is negligible, of course, but if all you want is a lot of box for your money, I'd say they're worth a look. (I got one of their PCs off ebay for I think £60 a year or three back - been superb.)
