Where are the hills/stead roads

Any idea where I could train up stead roads any ideas of finding any, south manchester area

The Pennines are to the East a bit. They're a bit hilly!

There is this gentle pootle out of Macclesfield, just follow the signposts for Buxton (There is even a tea-room and also a pub at the top)

Presupposing that "stead" is "steep", the closest suitable road from S Manchester is the Brickworks climb out of Pott Shrigley. It is actually called Bakestonedale Road. 2.6km with an average of about 6% so it isn't stupidly steep but it's a good climb

Once over the top of there you're into the Peak District proper. There are loads of challenging climbs very close to Bakestonedale Road if you want to do some more. Just drop down the far side and follow your nose, you can't avoid climbing

Follow A road down through stockport and then up into Goyt Valley? Some lovely riding up that way.

Best route to Goyt is up Bakestonedale Road (the Brickworks climb I mentioned upthread) then via the Wingather Rocks climb. However, that's a tough loop and I'm not sure the OP is wanting quite such a sufferfest!
