I live a long way from the sea . I've taken out laser/toppers out two or three times but I haven't been on a proper boat unless you mean walking around on the cutty sark and things like that. Actually I suppose I have been on a boat twice - a cruise trip down the Ouse as far as Monte Carlo Naburn and once on the Thames. Yeah I suppose very occasionally. Not for travelling from a to b though, for fun.

I used to live in Leicester, you don't get further from the sea than that!

I love boats - little boats, big boats. And I don't mind roughness too much, so of course every ferry I go on is flat calm...

I once took a minibus of US fieldschool students from Fishguard to Rosslare. Turned out most of them hadn't been on a ferry either and where asking about the big doors in the prow, so while we waited to board, I entertained them with tales of the Herald of Free Enterprise.

I drive everyday, almost.
Yesterday. Parked near the college where I work and had to walk over a mile to the building where I study the Cert Ed.
31st Jan I took taxi to the airport and a plane to Inverness and hired a van to do a house move.
I took a train back from Manchester on 2nd Feb after dropping off the hire van.
I last cycled, outdoors, when it was a bit warmer last autumn.
Can't remember the last time I was on a bus.

I might go on a ferry this year. Some people I know were talking about doing a cycling tour somewhere but I can't remember whether they said it was a faff taking it on the boat, they'd fly from now on, or it was the other way round . I've met people that think it funny that I haven't been on a big ferry trip but unless I do a Fitzcarraldo there's not too much use for it round here.

I've never tried to take a bike on a plane, but from the stories I've heard about them getting bent, I'd go for the ferry everytime unless I had a bike that packed into a hard case. Plus, you get to go to the front of the queue to load up (well, we have, everytime) and on a trike you don't even have to worry about slipping on the ramp, so you can have a race...

You've never been on a boat! Plane, I can understand, but a boat?
Having once been violently seasick, I don't blame him. Nine hours bobbing up and down like a cork on the Irish Sea was the most miserable night of my life. I started off thinking I was going to die, and ended up wishing I had.
