It's not how many sizes up or down that is the issue, its relative to the width of the wheel rim compared to the tyre.

The above table gives a good range of compatible sizes.

Err, you might have missed those of us (just me?) who ride with 650c wheels (ISO 571)

There appears to be only one tyre size commonly available (23s). Even though one of my bikes came with 24s, I can only find 23s.

I've just read the opening post and see my wheels come under the description of 'odd'. I like 'odd' ^_^

When I was huffing and puffing at being left out cos of my 'odd' wheels, I Googled and discovered there is one larger tyre for 650c wheels.

Taken from http://sheldonbrown.com/harris/tires/571.html. I'm thinking of ordering a pair for my road bike if the frame geometry allows.
Narrow Road Tires 571 mm:

28-571 650 x 28 C / 26 x 1 1/8" Terry Tellus TRM515Click here addtocart_button.gif At long last! A reasonable width tire to fit 650C wheels! Actual width approximately 26 mm, 340 grams.

Kestevan excellent OP and thread however I have just ordered a 2017 Cube Agree C:62 carbon framed & wheeled road bike and I would like to know if there is any special method or means in removing / replacing tyres on carbon wheels? This cycle is fitted with Schwalbe One, Kevlar, 25-622 tyres.

My current MTB I use a set of three plastic bike tyre levers to help remove a tyre and generally find they are not require to replace and that's with Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres?
